she almost starts...

i have an 88 N/a that i rebuilt and am now trying to start it. it never started under my ownership. so i have the timing as close as i can get it with out the car running. i know im getting some fuel and spark, cause it tries to start. when it cranks it almost catches then goes back to cranking over an over again.
also the emissions were removed at the same time as rebuild. i just checked the water thermo sensor and it seemed ok. had a reading of 1955 ohms at 77* so that seems ok. as far as i can tell everything is pluged in, what could i be missing??
Thanks
Jason

Check to make sure all your fuel injectors are in the right order as well as your spark plug wires. That was my problem lol.

Are all your grounds good? I forgot to ground the EFI harness by the clutch slave cylinder and had the same issue when putting the emissions back on.

Other than that, it could be flooded.

Don't worry I had to pull it at least 4x after I thought I was all buttoned up and ready to go. I tested the injectors w/ an ohm meter right at the ecu on the positive side to find out which was which. I am not sure what the easy way to do it is.

if you are not getting about 10 volts to pin 3b when starting the ecu will not run the start map. My car seems to do the same thing that yours is doing. I had it working with the start map but i decided to solder it together and after i did that it stopped working. On my car when i go to start it for the first time i have to kind of pump the gas and keep cranking it until it catches. If I don't get it to start the first time it wont start for another 5 minutes or so.

Good luck

IT STARTED!!!!!! *jumps up and down*. what i did was pinch off the fuel line while cranking then as it started to catch had some one release the clamp. fired right up and ran fine. but then i had to turn it off cause the exhaust wasnt hooked up and the neighborhood might not appreciate that. i did rev it up to make sure that it wasnt just going to die on me but it didnt just die. im so happy!!!!
