seriously WTF is going on, stripping bolts.

So it was getting late lastnight when i went to put my lim back on, so i just screwed on the two middle nuts.
This morning, about 6:30 i went to screw the rest of the bolts on on the LIM to the engine, and i screwed on in a little bit, (it WAS straight) then it became hard to screw, so i stopped using my hand and used a socket wrench, it got about halfway in then started stripping. so i was like what the ****? so i started to screw a different one in with my hand, and it started getting tight to. there is no way im gonna try to screw it in again with the wrench, so my question is,what the **** is going on? they screwed in just fine yesterday, did the block constract because its cold out? or what?
this is pissing me off, especially that i already stripped my ******* block onces, and there is no way that im going to helicoil that if its the only one stripped.

How did the threads look on the bolt?

After threading it in?

Did there apear to be fresh metal on it? I am not sure if the bolt is harder than the block you are threading into to. Lets hope so.

Inspect the threads carfully on the bolt. If they are buggered you can fix that with a dremel cut off wheel.

Take a wire brush and clean out the threads.

Not sure what is up with it. Might need to fetch a metric tap/die set.

Least you didn't rape a bolt into the fuel rail mount like I did... that SUCKED... and I sold the UIM with the bolt still raped in there cause I couldn't get it out. thats when I learned if a bolt is hard to turn after 3-4 turns... take it back out and thread check

Mazda used some weird thread combos on some assemblies. The one place I know about is the tranny bolts vs. the lower starter bolt- different pitches (or so it seemed). So, my question has to be: are you sure you're putting the same bolts in the same holes you took 'em out of?

yesh

1.25 and 1.5 are the common pitches

i just have enough bolts around from cars that i can usually just find the size/pitch.

you need more than 2-3 turns to make sure. if you look at them they do look quite different.

Assuming you are using the right bolt, I'd run a tap in the hole to clean it out. And if the bolt threads are horked then run a die over it.
I think you should be able to run the bolt pretty far in by hand.
Good luck

The LIM? Ahhh...you don't need that silly thing! Just make a nice blockoff plate and block that sucker off! Good as new!

You did just cut a bunch of metal from the intake porting, right? Could some shavings have fallen in the bolt hole and make it difficult for the bolt to go in?
