Is it worth parting out a RX7 or what's the best way to get rid of my car for fair price? It has bad engine (lost compression) and the body is crap with lots of dents. I've spent over $12,000 including the $3,000 purchase.
Any suggestions on how to sell car that won't move? It rode real nice when the engine worked! XD
That's in pretty rough shape. You could try the for sale section here as well as craigslist and specify that it's pickup only. Trying to handle the logistics of moving a car is going to cost a lot, and it's the buyers responsibility IMHO.
It's pretty rough man, I wish you best of luck with sale! I'm curious though, what did spend $12k on?? I don't see much going on besides wheels, glove box gauges, and ecu?

I'm debating if it's worth selling some of the parts. For example the Adaptronic EMS S5 PNP ECU was $1350.
I bought it for $3,000 with freshly rebuilt motor.
$995 - BC Racing Coilover Kit
$432 - PLX gauges
$450 - control arms
$912 - Master Tech automotive repairs to get it to pass emissions
$140 - TPS sensor
$180 - High flow cats and gaskets
$4,002 - Master Muffler (custom exhaust, install coilovers, rear suspension work, install gauges)
$4,532 - Luck 7 Racing (Adaptronic ECU, dyno tuning, radiator upgrade, air intake mod, wheel bearings, brake upgrades)

Make that over $14,000 spent on this car. Labor is the biggest expense.
Hate to say it, but you're not going to get what you put into that FC no matter how you decide to sell it. All that labor you paid for at various shops to do work is a sunk cost. That said, you have some marketable aftermarket parts there (Adaptronic ECU, gauges, etc) that will sell easily. I think a full part-out would get you the most cash back, but is the most work and time consuming. Ideally, you'll break it down and sell parts till its just a non-rolling shell that may be worth about $100~150 if you can find a junk yard willing to pick it up. Also, don't forget that if your interior plastics, carpet & trim bits are in good shape they can fetch good $ on the used market - that stuff is mostly NLA from Mazda, and valuable to the guys restoring an FC.
