Screwed up (again)
Screwed up (again)
wow I really need some help. I started the engine up and it sounds almost like its running on one rotor. On top of that my power brakes aren't working??? The car wont hold an idle and it sounds like its misfiring a lot. Does anyone have a clue whats going on? I just finished putting the manifold back on last night after changing out the vacuum lines and gaskets.
Wait, the brakes not working? That would mean its not running off a vacuum??? Is the engine not pulling one or what cause I dont see oil running through the new OMP lines?? How could it not pull a vacuum???
Well I checked all my vacuum lines again and they all seem secure and on there pretty good. I did notice one nipple on the upper manifold near the firewall with no line on it. Theres nothing showing in my Haynes manual about the connection of that line? Where is it supposed to go??
Sounds like the vacuum line going to the brake booster isn't hooked up, and you're getting a major vacuum leak from that fitting.
And that one nipple near the firewall, if it's a long nipple with a curve, is the nipple for the brake booster. And if it's not, it's still a huge vacuum leak (there are two nipples there, I forget what the other one is for).. If the brake booster line is hooked up, go down to the auto parts store and look for vinyl caps, and cap the fitting.

Hey thanks a lot for the help. This nipple thats left exposed is actually coming from the upper manifold on the side(closer to the firewall). It looks like it alone though. I'll go ahead and check it out again. The brake booster vacuum line isn't labeled in the haynes manual.

Ok Ive really gotten myself in over my head this time. Yesterday out of frustration I took the manifold off and on almost 2 or 3 times checking everything over again. I ripped the lower gasket but used silicone gasket to compensate. To make things even worse I broke a screw in the side of the lower manifold. It was from a smaller line which stemmed off the EGR and the screw had a small air passageway in it. So I proceeded to seal the broken screw too. Yea this has turned into a big nightmare. Im thinking of just giving rotary reliability a call and letting them take over things from here.
