Angry Bad omens..Update on the air pump super charger..2

Well here goes the story folks. Please don't laugh to hard.
Well I get the air pump apart, Take all the measurments of it I can posibly take and set it in the house for safe keeping. Here for the last week it has been raining. I go to weigh it the other day and WTF!?! Its gone. I looked all over the house, nothing, All in the shed, nothing. Where could it be???? I had no idea. I was leaving to go to work yesterday and it was drissling out side so I was going to stay under the overhang of the roof and BAM!! Son of a B!tch! Pain! I look down and there it was, soak and wet. completely rusted. I tried all that crap to get the rust off but it didn't work. So the air pump is screwed. My sister put it outside because it was dirty. She is only 6 years old. Now for the even worse news. This stumped me. The car I bought to replace the GTU is a GXL. It didn't run and the guy had no idea if the engine was really shot or not so I got it for $300(USD). Well I got it to crank real good the other day before the rain, but it wouldn't start. I need a new fuel filter and thought that it might be restristing gas and what ever. Well today I go to do a compression test to see if the engine is toast or not so I turn the key......click click click, then dead battery. Charge battery, try again, click click click. This isn't the usual click of bad starter or anything its just this littler clicking sound that none can seem to tell what it is or what the hell is going on. I'm tired of this crap. Has someone else had a problem like this? The engine wont even turn over now. AAHH!! This is gay!

try reseating the battery lines.. tighten them bastards up TIGHT. And check the starter lines too, and wiggle everything a little. Worked for me.

Sounds like you need a new starter.

I don't think he needs a new starter.. I had the same problem, took it to Murray's and it was fine. Rehooked it back up, and it worked fine. It worked fine before, stopped, then worked fine again.

Don't try to turn the engine either by hand (with a power breaker(?) ) or by push starting. The best way to know if your engine is locked, is:

1-Remove starter (leave all connections)
2-Leave the starter on the floor
3-Turn the key

If you can hear the starter, you engine is locked. Now is a good time to try that "ATF trick" , good luck!

Pull the plugs and try to turn the engine by hand using the main pulley. It should turn easily; if not. it's locked. If it's not locked it'll be a starter or battery problem.

what are you talking about? everybody knows that exprbitant is spelled with a "p". oh wait, you're from the US. its spelled with a "p" in canada, in the US i guess it would be "exorbitant". which makes no sense at all, you know, if you sound it out.

on them with a hammer and it will work..
just an idea....

Yep. Nice pointer.
When the actuator pawl becomes stuck, and the starter gear won't slide forward, tapping the starter will usually free it. Also try slightly rolling the car while in gear, then attempting to start.

I agree with NZconvertible wholeheartedly. Also, clean your battery posts with a wire brush, and add some vaseline to the battery posts. Also try cleaning up the other ends of the battery wires, and maybe checking the resistance between the starter hot wire and an engine ground.

u sure the battery was actually dead?might wanna check.i had a intermitend ignition switch faliure, sound like that could be your problem-i would just get a solenoid click, not enough voltage to the starter.you could alway use a direct jumper cable to the starter, and see if its in the elec. system.carefully,of course.

clean your battery terminals with a battery terminal cleaning brush, you can get them at hardware stores and they are only a few bucks. You scrape all the bad metal off the battery posts and the inside of the terminals. I think with it being summer the lead corrodes MUCH faster, I cleaned mine up and my voltage actually improved. (I had the same problem with starting my car, took off the wire, put it back on, it worked till the next time).

GFs car was doing that. Turned out to be the battery. Have it checked out at advance or some similar place before you go through the trouble of ripping out the starter.

Man I feel like an ***. I was all pissed about it not turning over and by all holy luch with the low volts on the meter I put on the charger. Got up this morning to see if it was still all messed up and holy crap. it turns over now. It just wont start. And I can't seem to get anyone over to help me do a comp test so I can see how the engine is doing. Arg, I hate friends sometimes.

Well let me see Big... I don't think I'm doing anything Tuesday. I might have to work So I'll find out tomorrow. I want this car running asap. If this motor is bad I have another one that I can use out of the GTU.

Does anyone know how to modify my turbocharger as a extra large air pump for emissions control?

More bad omens.....
I think someone is trying to tell me not to build up this car man. I went outside yesterday to check ignition and stuff like that so I pop the hood and start messing with a belt with out looking around in the bay first. Well out of the corner of my eye I though I saw something twitch so I look up and there is this snake staring me down sitting right on top of my alternator. Scared the crap outa me. I went to pick it up and it dissapeared into the engine bay. I found it again and it scambled out of the car. I looked under the car to see were it was going and there was nothing there. Spooky.

Hey BigWoogie. I'm not doing anything tomorrow so I'll pm you and we'll get together man.
peace out,
Charles
