s5 vert engine harness interchangable?

Im trying to remove an Engine harness from a 1990 n/a s5 convertible to swap it to my 91 n/a, are they interchangeable?

also i noticed the engine harness in the convertible has this golden foil wrapped around it and looks like its has a wire connected to it like a ground, could i unwrap this to be able to only remove the two yellow connectors from the ecu?

Thats the shielding for the CAS wires. That needs to stay put if you are using the harness.

If you are just salvaging the plugs and not using the harness, then it doesnt matter.

Should, but you should really ask AaronCake about that.

the vert engine wiring and the coupe are the same, until the vert gets an airbag, and then an airbag harness is bundled with the engine harness, it'll still run the engine fine either way

the gold foil is shielding, put it back/replace it

thanks for the feedback guys, i got a bit busy but i did end up cleaning the lim area, it was filthy and i noticed the intake manifold gasket was brittle and falling a part as i touched it and figured i should change it, better safe than sorry

what kind of problems would i be in if it started to leak, would smog check failure be a possibility?

Im gonna ask Icemak about the engine harness similarities or if their interchangeable

intake gasket leak usually makes the car idle low, or not at all. not sure what it would do to smog, not good.

i wouldn't expect a reply from Icemark, he died a while ago
