s5 vert engine harness interchangable?
Im trying to remove an Engine harness from a 1990 n/a s5 convertible to swap it to my 91 n/a, are they interchangeable?
also i noticed the engine harness in the convertible has this golden foil wrapped around it and looks like its has a wire connected to it like a ground, could i unwrap this to be able to only remove the two yellow connectors from the ecu? |

I don't think anyone understood what i was asking but here are some pics of this bronze metal around the harness, it has a black wire soldered to it, should i re wrap it with a new foil

Thats the shielding for the CAS wires. That needs to stay put if you are using the harness.
If you are just salvaging the plugs and not using the harness, then it doesnt matter. |
could i directly swap this s5 vert wiring in my s5 coupe with no problems and connect it directly with the s5 coupe ecu
|
Should, but you should really ask AaronCake about that.
|
the vert engine wiring and the coupe are the same, until the vert gets an airbag, and then an airbag harness is bundled with the engine harness, it'll still run the engine fine either way
the gold foil is shielding, put it back/replace it |

thanks for the feedback guys, i got a bit busy but i did end up cleaning the lim area, it was filthy and i noticed the intake manifold gasket was brittle and falling a part as i touched it and figured i should change it, better safe than sorry
Attachment 625989 what it looked like when i removed the lim, i think i made the right call Attachment 625990 Attachment 625990 area finally cleaned out Attachment 625992 what kind of problems would i be in if it started to leak, would smog check failure be a possibility? Im gonna ask Icemak about the engine harness similarities or if their interchangeable |
intake gasket leak usually makes the car idle low, or not at all. not sure what it would do to smog, not good.
i wouldn't expect a reply from Icemark, he died a while ago |
j9fd3s-its a good thing i replaced the gasket since i already was there, now gonna change the oil pump hoses as well
oh thats my bad i meant AaronCake like jjwalker mentioned, hopefully i get the wire harness correct and get it finally running |
