S5 ported wastegate results...

well, i finally got around to hooking up my crap-o-meter boost gauge last night and took the T2 out this morning to see what i was running...and just give some results for those thinking about porting an S5 wastegate...

when i bought the car it came with these mods. Bonez intake, Ported wastegate/rebuilt turbo, 2.5inch downpipe, 2.5 inch midpipe, no cats. RP 50mm catback. the previous owner ported the wastegate, and although didn't have an aftermarket boost gauge, still said that the boost was less than stock...

Monday, March 4...41 degrees F

1st gear. max boost 5-6 psi
2nd gear. max boost 6-7psi
3rd gear. max boost 7-8psi

so i was well relieved after that knowing i wasn't going to crazy boost levels with those mods. i'm still not sure if the 2.5 inch midpipe or the small catback is choking any boost (maybe the case)...but i'll swap the huge N1 catback off my n/a when the time is right...

maybe to some of your these might seem like low boost levels, but the car gets up and hauls some SERIOUS *** so i'm happy with it

Talking nah

i dont think 2.5" is hurting performance.... Wont your turbo spool up a little faster with 2.5" than a 3"....Im not sure.. But running ,the stock turbo, I dont think it would be nesseccary to have 2.5 ", he just needs to get an avc-r and crank it up to 10psi!!!

Hell no ,quite the opposite. The less backpressure behind the turbine, the quicker it'll spool

As long as the wastegate can handle it, a 3" will be fine. Your suggestion means making the turbo work harder to acheive the same results.
