S5 OMP question.
hey, I think my OMP died.. so I'm going to go premix. I've heard you can block it off and just leave it connected so it doesn't go into limp mode (even though it's already going into limp mode). so I was wondering if I would have to buy another omp to connect to do nothing, or I could just gut the old one of all the mechanical stuff...
thanks,

your ecu is probably fried too
you could risk putting a new omp in and have the ecu fry it since the omp fried the ecu and then the ecu will fry a normal omp
i would give kevin a buzz and buy a used s5 ecu + omp from him.... its tesed and no worries

Did you get a CEL? If so you can do the tests in the FSM to check the resistance between the wires to see if it's good or not.
Like said above you will need a good working OMP or you will hit limp mode. There is a chance your ECU is fried as well but there is not anyway that I have found to test it. I went the safe route and swapped in a known good ECU and OMP at the same time. I opened up my ECU but could not see any fried circuits but the risk of blowing out a good OMP with a bad ECU was not worth the risk to me.

You can only tie it off if it's working to begin with, but since it's broke now you'll have to get a used one, then tie it off to the side. If you need a used OMP, pm me

I can drive for like 5 minutes, then it goes into limp mode, but it doesn't have any error codes, and if I reset the ECU, I can drive for another couple minutes then the same thing happens.
I think my ecu is fine... cause it resets and stuff ok, but I'll probably throw in an extra one I have just in case.

The ECU frying only happens about 50% of the time.
And you can pull the ECU, and look for the burn marks. If there are no burn marks, you are good to go. Ive replaced MOPs and not ECUs, and had success.

thanks a lot guys, I ordered an OMP from sonic rat, and it's on my way, and my friend has an extra ECU that I'm going to throw in at the same time just to be sure.
thanks for all your help,
