s5 N/A rats nest

so after replacing, fixing, adjusting, testing, ect. a bunch of stuff to try and fiqure out why my s5 n/a lopes at idle about ten seconds after the warm up cycle ends, im trying to verify that none of the vac lines are swapped or somthingbut the pic on f1-7 in the FSM is of one angle and its very hard to tell what lines go to what ect. so does anyone have pics, or links, ect. to anyother diagrams?
i wanna remove the rats nest but im thinking its needed for emmisions testing.

You can't easily remove the emissions rack if you need to smog the car. Other systems like the 6PI and VDI also get routed through the rack, so it's pretty pointless to remove everything just to re-engineer it all again. You can search this section for "color vacuum diagram" and find one for an S5 NA. I have a colored-in diagram on one of my computers that I pulled from here awhile back.

in the FSM diagram it shows the blue line in the pic.
now i felt around under the rats nest and there is no line to connect that vac hose two, and on my car that line comes out the back of the switch solenoid, runs under the VDI manifold, loops around and ataches to a hard line right behind the purge control valve, and has no check valve in that line like the FSM shows. does that seem right to anyone?

That is very strange, I'm not familiar with the s4 n/a particularly, but on my s4 turbo my line was routed exactly like the line you colored in the FSM. That valve is also important because the solenoid will not work properly without it. Are you sure there isn't a hard line down there somewhere? maybe somebody cut it short for some reason?

i couldnt feel any hard lines or any with some other hose on it.
but the routing of the hose on my car is getting vacuum, so i may just need to get a check valve and put it in-line?

It's hard to tell because the S5 NA diagram is a mess, but if it's routed like an S4 NA, the line with the check valve supplies vacuum for the relief and switching solenoids/valves (also the EGR on S4s). It'll still work without the check valve, but I guess it's there to prevent the solenoids/valves from seeing a little positive pressure under the right conditions.

S4 NA:

im thinking the switching solenoid just needs vacuum, it shouldnt be important where that vacuum comes from, right?

The switching solenoid and relief solenoid use vacuum to operate the valves in the ACV. No, it doesn't matter from where as long as they have a vac source.
