88 turbo II idle issue please help

So i just bought my fourth rx7, an 88 turbo II. it only has 45k miles and is in perfect shape. Had it shipped from utah to rhode island as i bought it on ebay...

here is my only issue. once the car has reached full operating temperature it does not want to idle. it drives down the road great with lots of power but when you come to a stop it wants to stall. it seems to want to stall more when i'm using any additional electrical power such as my foot on the brakes or the headlights on.

any ideas i would be very grateful. Thanks.

Make sure that w/the car fully warmed up as in after a 20 minute joy ride the Green/Red wire at the TPS is set to one volt. Then check the idle rpm when you start the car after adjusting the TPS, if it were needed, and tell us what the rpm at idle is w/no extra accessories being used. Idle rpm should be 750 when at full operating temp. If it is lower then bump it up some. If this does not change things then focus on the BAC which helps to prevent the idle from dropping below 750 rpm especially when the A/c or headights or power steering is used. Also make sure the voltage output of the alternator is 14 volts or so under any operating condition for if it drops too low (like 12 volts or less) that could cause the engine to run roughly in a haphazard manner.

Another thing you should check is for intake leaks, my 88 t2 was having all sorts of idle issues, after getting the TPS adjusted it turned out I had a a crack in my air intake duct. 30 seconds and some electrical tape and it as right as rain. If you want to check this just take some starter fuid and spray it lightly around the intake housing and duct. if the idle picks up, then youve got a leak.

satch, thanks, i was speaking with my brother and he seems to thank the BAC is bad also. he said it is very common with older mazda's and that it seems to makes sense considering the fact that it idles perfectly prior to full warm up. i'm going to replace that first and i'll let you know how it works out.

EigthCypher: i will certainly check for any type of air leaks prior to replacing the BAC.

i would love some more feedback if anyone else would like to contribute.

PS my vert still for sale.

update ** issue solved ** you both were right

i just wanted to say thanks turns out it was a vacuum leak going to the BAC. it was the hose under the BAC that leads to the back of the blitz BOV.

thanks again.
