S5 intake manifold on s4 ???
Is there power to be had from this conversion. I heard that there was but was wondering if anyone has some good info about it??? And if it does give you a hp bump about how much and why. IS it because the ports are bigger on the manifold or what?? Thank you everyone.
i seriously doubt its anything worth a damn ..
i have s5 jspecs on my s4 motor, but the only reason i did that is cause the jspecs dont have the EGR valve thingy ...
i doubt its even an extra HP ... i dont have dyno #s but im sure its nothing spectacular

turbo or n/a? i've done it to my n/a and there is a noticable difference. i gained about 10 horse when i added the s5 upper and a header. i already have a nice exhaust minus the header so the header didn't add huge gains. . and the motor had low compression and ****. So on a motor with good compression and in good shape you will gain more. I did have the car dyno'd so this isn't just a *** dyno thing. the car really did gain ten horse power. . probably more if it wasn't so heat soaked. . there ya go.

The n/a S5 manifold absolutely makes more power. It doesn't physically flow as much air as the S4 manifold on a bench but the VDI tuning more than makes up for this. The S5 n/a maniold makes more power. If you are talking about the T-II manifolds, don't waste your time.
there's so many factors, the question itself i think is irrelevant. i don't know of extensive testing considering so many factors.

I was actually refering to turbo motors. I guess not I just wondered if the ports were larger or it flowed better with the turbo app. I think that is relevent as if the ports are larger then I would possibly port mine or get one. I was trying to figure out if there were any other reason that the s5s make more power stock other than the turbo, raised boost, and engine management. But maybe thats it. SO is it basically a known fact that if you took a 88 and an 89 t2 and upgraded the turbo, went stand alone and used the same mods would the numbers be close?? Meaning all mods the same once you get past the turbo being different would the two cars be similar( I know every car is different but similar) or would there still be 20 more hp for the s5 t2

They're actually a very simple thing. I built mine. It's easy and the results are good. If you are real cheap, you can build one to test smaller pieces for under $50 using home made manometers. It uses a shop vac. I opted to buy magnehelic pressure gauges instead of manometers. Mine is great for intake ports, exhaust ports, and manifolds, but I don't yet have the vacuum source large enough to test big 3" exhausts and intakes. The bench has the ability though if I did have a large enough air source. The only real disadvantage mine has is that you need an airflow conversion slide rule from Dywer but it only costs a few buck. I also need a calculator. I don't have a computer spitting out numbers. Simple math though and definitely not worth crying about since I didn't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars.
