Question S4 vs. S5 Turbo Coolant Banjo Bolt Washers

Does anyone know if the coolant line banjo bolt washers are the same for S4 and S5 turbos? The S4 washer part number is 9956-41-400 vs. 9956-41-600 for the S5. Mazda charges twice as much for the S5s. The banjo bolts themselves are 9956-41-400 vs 9956-41-600. I'm not sure if that's a newer part number or if they're different parts.

The reason that I'm asking is because when I ordered the washers from my local dealer they gave me some that clearly do not fit my S4 turbo.

I upgraded from a s4 turbo to an s5 turbo and the washers were the same. I ended up gatting 16mm aluminum washers from my local NAPA store and it worked great.

Thanks for your answer. I don't know what the heck Mazda was doing then. I've been sort of reluctant to just find a aluminum or copper washer that fits because I've had a lot of bad luck lately. At least I know it worked for you so it'll probably work for me.

Feed lines, banjo bolt, and center cartridge are the same... dunno why the part numbers are different for the crush washers.

You're buying washers from Mazda?! You could buy a box of quality replacements from a hardware store for what they're probably charging for one...

Not many hardware stores carry the very-specifically sized copper crush washers... or at least any around here.

For standard bolt washers, yeah, never go to mazda.

Yeah maybe not the hardware store, but any engineering shop should have them. When I pulled my turbo recently, it was at a mate's workshop. He had a boxed set of 20-30 different sized copper crush washers (a bunch of each size) bought from the local engineering supply shop quite cheaply. We had no trouble finding the right size washers for the turbo's banjo bolts.

Hey NZ, sometime metric hardware costs UP THE *** in the U.S.
We used to pay up to 10x more for a stupid metric fastener when compared to an equivalent SAE sized one.
Just for kicks, we used to write down the SAE fastener scan codes when we went to buy metric hardware from Home Depot - large-*** home improvement chain store in the U.S.

For example, a 1/4" washer is about 3 cents.
A 6mm washer is about 15 cents.

Sorry, I wrote the same number for the bolts as the washers. The S4 washers and bolts have "-400" at the end of the number and the S5 have "-600".

I'm pretty sure I can get the washers from someone other than Mazda, but like I said I'd rather be **** to avoid any problems. Besides I'm ordering other stuff at the same time. In Canada we use the metric system, but often we have to pay up the *** for metric parts too.
