S4 Turbo Vs S5 Turbo

Are the differences between the 2 that much? Say both turbos are boosting 8 psi, how big of a difference would it be. Does one spool quicker etc?

I'm trying to decide which turbo I should replace mine with right now. A S4 or S5, just trying to figure out if the S5 is worth the price....

It'd be the same, the only difference really comes in the manifold & wastegate setup, the s5 is superior in that department.

iv read that getting the S5 turbo upgraded to a hybrid to4 is silly because the internal wastegate is just not good enouf.. ported to hell and beyond and it will creep like crazy still..

when you send in a s4 turbo they add a external wastegate flange with the stage 2 and up... so it all depends on what you want to do.

stock for stock id do the s5 and port it to the max...
I stayed s4 because i plan on sending it in to get upgraded soon anyway.

I emailed Brian a LOOOOONG time ago and he said that they don't add the wastegate flage anymore. That he has come up with some awsome porting or something.

well the porting thing throws all that i have said out the window...

get a s5 if you have the chance, port the WG. If you dont know why or what makes it better then you need to spend a few days reading on this site. Volumes of info can be found here and its all freeeeeee!

Everything you need to know about porting and boost creep can be found by searching on the topic..

Well I think I'm just gonna go for a cheap S4 one for now and during winter I'll go for a 60-1 hybrid upgrade/rebuild. Right now I can't afford the downtime. My current S4 has a ported wastegate and it boosts to like 4psi tops with TID and the RB without my controller turning it up...
