S4 turbo lines: WHO KNOWS BEST?

Has ANYONE ever had a problem matching the coolant return line from an S4 turbo?

On the FC turbos that I've come across, the coolant feed (from the center section) has the same size thread and banjo bolt as the coolant return.

On this turbo that I am currently working on, the return passage has a size smaller thread. Thus meaning the banjo bolt AND loop (on the end of the return line) should be smaller.

I CANT FIND A LINE WITH A SMALLER LOOP ANYWHERE!!! !!!
Can anyone help with this?

Disclaimer: I am assuming that the passage on the back of the turbo (facing the engine) is the return.

i had the same problem!
i thought i was just crazy.
i went to mazda, ordered a banjo bolt for it, and it didnt fit. i pulled the bolts out of 3 parts cars, and only 1 of them fit, so i guess they just happened to use different thread sizes.

thanks for your help Kevin.

blmcquig, how did you eventually fix this issue?

could this be a j-spec issue, or something to that effect...

jspec turbos are identical to US ones.

was there a j-spec 86 Turbo?
i installed the turbo today, (thanks for the suggestion Kevin)

I inspected the turbo and the coolant inlet also has the same SMALLER banjo and loop. I happen to have that piece. That piece HAS to be for an FC because it has the flange that mounts to the LIM.

So, somewhere, there is an FC that was made with a center section that has smaller coolant passages...

I'll try to get pics tomorrow

The FC was released in Japan in late-85, and they're all turbo'd.
