S4 Port actauator Position IN the engine(after you take off manifold!)

This is a Handy little bit of Info to tell you HOW to Position your ports when you have made the "boo-boo" of taking them out and not looked to see where there are position wise!
If you look at The PIN of the sleeve it has a BIG side and thinner side.
Put the BIG side of the pin to 8 O'clock (rear rotor) and the Front rotor port sleeve pin to 4 O'clock.
That is it!,they are now properly positioned and You can put your Lower manifold back on.
If you get stuck, section 4A-60,4A-61 of the FSM will show you,But I thought at least one person would try to Search this.
Since you are Done now,Go get coffee,beer..cough,cough,whatever..do the Happy Dance!!

Me neither.
Mazda gasket, no discernible notch to be found.

Sometimes it's the little stuff that counts big when you really need it. Thanks for posting!

this is one of those things that isn't even really a problem. if you were to look at a 5th/6th port cylinder, then study the movement of the acctuator, and then look/feel inside the actual port, it's pretty clear how they are supposed to be oriented

Who has time to study actuator movement?.This is the Age of Speed!..anything less is just an Inconvenience!
there are a few that do not know How the engine operates and take it apart because it is 'written"..."this will increase your HP by 6hp"..gotta do it..woops,what does this do?Where's this go..?

When something happens to a Rx7 owner's car, they don't check anything on the car But they do check the internet.
I went to a TII years back, and recently picked up an Beater. So I had to get acquainted with the old S4 N/A again.
Thank God for the "online Factory Service manual"!
