rx8 seats in FC
rx8 seats in FC
This is not my car..it's a friends FC...We spent a few hours cutting grinding and welding to get this passenger side seat to fit..tomorrow we will work on the driver side to finish up. The bottom seat height is pretty close to the same as the stock seats for the FC. Fee free to comment. I'll post more pictures tomorrow as we progress.

from our measurements there's no difference in height where he bottom seat cushion is. The top half of the seat is taller than the FC seat, but that doesnt change or affect where the helmet or head position would be. Our main goal was to have the same seating position and height as the stock FC seat and we nailed it pretty darn close.

driver side is all done..battery for my camera is dead..i should be able to post the final pictures tomorrow..the owner of the FC (my friend) is extremely happy with the outcome. and most importantly the bottom seat height is still the same as stock.
This is interesting. I was planning to do something along the lines of these for the FC since I don't like my stock seats too much but don't want a bucket seat just yet. I wonder if I could find some leather RX8 seats for a decent price.
Been there DONE that.
Did you weld the stock brackets?
I kept mine power tilt/forward/up/down/etc...
i just used an 90 degree one of those thingys. i actually have to redo mine, as moving it fully forwards doesn't allow people under ~5'6 to reach to pedals.
The hardest part is drilling out all the brackets. i didn't have to grind on mine what so ever, just a really good drill bit. i have 1 more pair unstripped i thought i was going to put in my coupe, however.. these seats in a vert rubs near the seat belts, which i don't think is a problem on coupes.
The passenger side sits maybe a half an inch higher.. but not really noticeable.... and the brackets are less then ideal.

the seats we put in the FC are cloth, which means no power seats to mess with. that was one of the main reasons he liked the seat was for the decent weight. process was pretty simple. grinded and cut everything off except the slider from the rx8 mounting hardware, then welded pre-bent and fitted individual thick guage steel brackets to the flat slider assembly of the rx8 seat.
the way you did the seats sit pretty high..

This is exactly the info I needed to hear about how to mount them. So I need to cut everything but the RX-8 slider, then weld on brackets to mount the RX-8 slider to the chassis.
I have the RX-8 seats sitting in my garage right now waiting to be put into my FC coupe. Thanks so much!

my seats have OEM FC seat rails attached to them. Meaning I DID NOT HACK the chassis ie. drilling holes into the stock chassis. I used oem seat rail mount location. everything looks factory.
