check your ILLUM fuse (driver side fuse box)- have you installed anything (like a radio, CD player, etc...) lately?

if the ILUM fuse (15amp) has blown, and keeps blowing, it means you have a bad ground somewhere. I have gone through this, and its most troublesome.
Good luck.

Swap out the switch before you get to much more into it. This is a common failure.

Alexis - If your fuse isn't blown, and you think the switch might still be good, here's what was wrong with mine when that happened to me.. *cough*last week*cough*.

Note: This is all under the assumption that your dash/interior illumination lights do not come on either.

One wires that went into the switch to turn the running lights/head lights on somehow overheated and melted a bit of the plastic connector (a supposedly fairly common problem). This caused the metal connector that slides around the pin to push back, and make sporradic, if any contact.

To fix it is pretty easy. Just remove the plastic surround for the gauges (that has the switches in it), undo the three screws on the inside, and there's (I believe) two underneath. After that, disconnect the 4 plugs that will be plugged into the various switches (Lights/Turn Signals/Cruise Control/Wipers). Check the plastic connector for the Lights switch. If the one is melted looking or disfigured, plug in the lights switch, and make sure you're getting good contact on your pin.. If it works, that's your problem.

What I did to fix it: I ended up pusing the wire all the way forward, and then putting epoxy on the back of it to hold it in place.. It's work so far this week, and I'm assuming it will work well...

Your right, I should have told her to read this sticky thread at the top of the 2nd gen section:

"ATTN new members, read here before posting, Check the archive, FAQ & use COMMON SENSE" https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...threadid=59758

From the FAQ for FC:

My tail lights don't work, but my head lights do
The light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.

My dash lights don't work
Did you check the dimmer control??? If you did and they still don't work the light switch connections may have burnt out. Check the back of the light switch.

Alexis - have you pulled your dash covering off yet to see if one of the connections is burnt?

Both threads are found at the top of the FC (2nd gen) section).

This should not be confused with Forum FAQ found at the top of the page (along with the Control Panel, Register, SEARCH, etc).

Please read the FAQ for FC first, before posting questions.

just to specify what i have asked earlier

my brake lights work when i push the brake pedal and my head lights work and it is not any of the fuses or connections or bulbs

the only thing not working is the lights that are on when you are driving at night the parking( running) lights

i have tried everything everyone has suggested and still am out of luck thanks for the help though if you have anymore keep them coming

Alexis:FC is short for FC3S, that is the chassis code for a 2nd Generation RX7(86-92). When someone refers to an FD(FD3S) that is the 3rd generation RX7.
Also for future reference, the FAQ icemark was speaking of is not the one up by the control panel, search, etc. If you go back to the 2nd gen forum(click back button once) scroll up and look at the 2nd post from the top,"FAQ for FC". That is what you want.
