my car is running hot, 1/4-1/2 way up gauge, i dont get it i have new lines, and a grffin high flow radiator and a permacool 3000cfm fan...........i dont get it, is my needle just messed up, or could my precats be getting clogged?
come on why is it doing this??...motor on the way out....??? could it be i put a high flow muffler where the cat used to be?...and its colgging up because of high temps now that its warmer???

Take your old theremostat down to the parts store and find one that looks like it that is 180 degrees. any cooler is too cold for a rotary.
also do you have a schroud around the fan? with out a schroud most fans will not pull enough air through the raditor to properly cool it.

1/4 to 1/2 is normal. As long as it doesn't go above half your fine, so what are you complaining about?
I won't even race my car until the engine has warmed up to at least 1/3 of the way up the temp gague.

How is your air filter, when i still had the stocl air box on, the filter got really dirty, because it was so clogged it was runing hot because it couldnt breath, i put a intake on and its sounds as well as runs alot better.

When is it getting warm? Normal driving, hard driving, sitting idling?
Check the radiator’s not partly blocked by checking to see if the top tank is evenly hot along its length. Unless it’s new, you should probably replace the thermostat as a precautionary measure. Use only a Mazda thermostat, no other.

Might be the water pump. I’ve seen water pump impellers rot away to almost nothing. As the impeller blades get smaller and smaller, the pump moves less water and the car gradually gets hotter. I don’t know any way to test or check a water pump other than pulling it off and inspecting it. www.fc3s.org has a water pump R&R write-up.
