Runnin' Premix? What type of oil do you use?

ermm... doubt I can get that brand here in Malaysia.. So its just the same 2 stroke oil for motorbikes? I've came across some Motul synthetic 2 T oil during my biking days, should I avoid that since its synthetic?

sorry inflateablepets but you still didn't tell me how that castor oil relates to the blend we use today, it may still be the same castor oil but how much of it is? filtered and all the additives i'm sure it would be like comparing apples and oranges, i still don't see people crapping themselves at my local tracks where alot of racers use castor oil in their bikes...

I have fully removed my OMP and the you use the Idemitsu 1/2 ounce to every gallon of gas. 12 gallons fills my tank and thats half a bottle of Idemitsu Premix. So you cn get 2 full tanks out of 1 bottle of Idemitsu.

heh, i started out using redline synthetic but now i use the cheap crap from Wal mart, not like your engine is going to pop but if i decide to go out to the track i would probably choose peace of mind and go back with a full synthetic high grade 2 stroke oil rather than the cheapo outboard stuff i am using now.
it's all relative, why put super unleaded in your car if you are just commuting? same thing, why use an expensive oil for just commuting? but when you head out for an all day punishment on your engine i would hope you spring for the extra proetection because your engine is going to take a pounding...

My street car is my toy and I like to run the best fliuds in it... So I run Idemitsu Premix and Idemitsu Engine Oil...I just fell alot better with that in there when I do decide on driving hard. I mean for an entire case of Idemitsu Premix its $60. Thats not that expensive....and 12 bottles come in a case, and 1 bottle is good for 2 full tanks of gas....so do the math and you see that lasts for a while. To each his own...I just prefer using that stuff and its no harm in suggesting it to others. I'm in college to so I know about the whole "being broke in college thing" cuz I am broke now to.

You are right Karack...I use to run AMS Racing Oil and that was an ounce to every gallon or 100:1 but the Idemitsu is superior to that and others and you only have to use a 200:1 mix. Those are the directions....thats why I said it may cost more but you do save by using less. The stuff is amazing man.

Oil from the second pressing is used as a lubricant for machinery
I had an old Husky dirtbike that required castor oil. You guys probably mean Castrol branded two cycle oil.
I guess I could do some more research on using it as a lubricant.

most higher quality 2 stroke oils are synthetic based, most any higher quality 2 stroke oil will offer good protection to an engine: Redline, AMSoil, Silkolene to name a few are some that i have used for years in my race bikes and other 2 stroke applications which a rotary also would fall into in a way.
my point about castor oil is that it won't cause people to go around shitting themselves, i actually love the smell of castor oil and 110 octane race gas!

bringing this thread back up....... and i have my own question.
amsoil has a bunch of 2 stroke oils, i'm guessing this is the one i want:
Saber Outboard 100:1 (ATO)
Pre-Mix, TC-W3, API TC
https://www.amsoil.com/products/twoc...px#2cyclechart

8 year thread bump!
Realistically, any TCW3 oil will do the job. Any evidence as to which premix oil is better, or how great the "boutique" oils are is simply anecdotal.
