REW + Wrecked FC with no motor = Fun way to spend winter!
My friends and I are in the middle of this swap now for fun [wrecked the FC and it wouldn't start (pinched wire in the harness) so I gave the motor to a friend] so with the help of alot of friends Im throwing in a REW motor . It's being done ghetto style [this means cheap, but can still run and drive with it in]. I'm going to be running alot of the stock FD parts, and I'm alittle confused on exactly what all has to be done [fc3spro is alittle vauge on getting this swap done]...
So far this is what we have pulled off the donor car:
Fuel pump, Motor [75k on it don't know if their was a rebuild, just know it starts], wiring harness [what ever was in the engine bay I pulled out] , ignition system, ECU, motor mounts
What my friends have given me that they have had laying around:
Front mount intercooler and piping, cone filters and piping, huge aftermarket transmission cooler [going to be used as an oil cooler, bad idea but the point is for the car to run at this point in time], oil lines and fittings, TII Transmission & Rearend [ going to try a stock n/a transmission first to prevent getting a drive shaft, I really don't feel like swaping the rear end at this point and time].
We have started to refine and figure out what's what on the wiring harness, and upgrading the fuel pump wiring to 14ga [we have the nessisary resistor and relay no worries y0!].
I'm currently trying to talk a fabrication shop down on making me an engine cradle. If this fails I'm going to go with the motive mount adaptors.
If this swap goes well, I plan to get a roller and build it up right myself.
Anyone who knows about anything about this swap please let me know if we need anything extra / do anything special.

All I can say if you my friend, have a lot of work ahead of you. While you're buying all of this ****, make sure to get a NICE digital camera and document it all. I love reading buildup threads

If you can't finish this within 6 months (since you did mention it being done over the winter), you can come back and tell everyone how you were a little bitch and need some spankings...

Ahhhh This is a real difficult thread to read. Half of me wants to see you fail and Reted continue on as always but half of me wants to see you succeed and see if Reted will live up to his end of the bargain (which I am sure will be difficult for him to do hahaha but possible)
Good luck to the OP and Reted hahaha. At this point in time I think Reted has the upper hand.

Sorry, I re-edited my original message...
It should be:
"How about I give you 6 months to finish this?"
Since you sound serious about this, how about we set up some rules?
* The car should be able to punch out at least a 13-second 1/4-mile run.
* The car should be able to drive around the island of Oahu without any sort of mechanical break-down - if the car is unable to drive under it's own power for whatever reason, you lose the bet.
* The car should be able to average 15mpg on the above round-the-island drive mentioned above.
Those 3 performance goals should be easily met with this project, right?
The deal is for 6 months.
You've already waste a day.
You have 179 days left.

It's not as hard as everyone says.... I'm 80% of the way through my project which included an REW swap. So far it has taken 2 months and during this time I have completely stripped the car down and resprayed it silver from red, built a V-mount intercooler/radiator setup with ducting, rebuilt the REW motor, upgraded the fuel system.
I wouldn't waste time with the factory REW loom and ecu, run a stand alone ecu.
Drill and tap the centre plate to accept the FC r/h engine mount and fabricate a mount for the l/h side to fit to the factory FC position. Modify an FC sump to suit the REW engine.

Not to thread jack but yeah In running a Air to air and water to air I have 1100 miles on her gt35R turbo and microtech. I agree with SPDRACR. Ithink I paid a wopping $75.00 to get it drilled and tapped and 75 for a mount for the drivers left mount.
Its a mount that exactly like the factory with out any holes. then I drilled two holed to mount to the centre iron

GL with this swap.
The word CHEAP does not work with this sort of swap...
youll have to go stand alone. Loom your own harness. make your own mounts. etc etc. its gonna be 2k just for computer and tuning...
get prepared to dig deep into your wallet.
if your a kid like me, GL on the 6 month swap. take your time on it man... dont let TED get to you, he likes to spread hate like an annoying case of herpes in more than just a few threads.
save your money man, have fun with it. make sure you do everything proper

as for that, that is a given. the car as 2 be able 2 that at least once in its full re-build.
also i would like 2 see the pics of the car once it is in ted garage and him with the look of "OMFG!"
