Replacing my water pump today...

Anything I need to watch out for? I have never replaced the water pump on a 7 before so I just want to make sure I am not going to run into any weird things associated with the rx7.

I'll post some pics too.

It is pretty easy.

Drain the coolant, unbolt the fan, remove the belts, remove the pulley, R&R the pump and put it back together.

You may have to remove the studs that the fan bolts to on the water pump.

No, you don't have to remove any studs. It's pretty easy, if you s4 you do not have to take off the pulleys on the crank. No pictures need, just take it apart and your fine. On s5, do not take off the 19mm bolt. Just undo the 4 10mm bolts that are on it, and then take them of one by one. You can't mix them up because there a bolt pattern.

I made that mistake once....talk about totally in dismay when you crank the engine and coolant pisses out

Did that when I was sixteen and thought I knew everything and did stuff half ***.

haha!! it happens. I was like that at 16, but not so much from a arrogant aspect. I just under estimated the power of a really clean engine!

Now I go overboard. I clean every part with a razor blade and break cleaner!! haha

FUUUUUUUCK!

I pulled the water pump off and the housing the pump attaches to started to come with it. I have only ONE ******* gasket. Now I have to take the whole ******* water pump housing off, which means I have to remove the alt, air pump and all that ****.

*cries and screams*

instead of trying to order a gasket,Now is the time to Make one.
get a sheet of gasket material(any auto parts store).
clean the old gasket off the housing, and engine. Then put the paper over the Pump housing.Tap the paper, where the paper comes in contact with the housing's edges.Use a small hammer(ball peen preferably),and it will Leave an Indent in the paper. If you Tap enough, the edge of the waterpump housing will actually cut like a Blade and you end up cutting the Gasket's Image out by just tapping gently all the way around the Housing.
It beats trying to trace shot that you cannot see.
It's Old school,But It works, and saves time and Money.,
I do this for alot of my engines.Making my own gaskets and using RTV go hand in hand.
