i like them. they're of good quality, but it was sort of a bitch to put them in.

 

Can you give me any details? Did you need to redrill anything, do the sliders provided fit? Thanks

 

yeah, well first thing you do is throw the sliders they give you away. unless those "double sliders" do anything.

i had to drill holes on the stock slider. you only have to do either the front side, or the back side of the sliders. and when you finally fit them on your seat, you're gonna have to stretch the rails a little because the seat's holes on the bottom are narrower than the brackets.

guess what? you're gonna have to take the rails off of the seat and you're gonna have to measure the rails with the holes on the floor plan. THAT'S why the rails are gonna be to wide for the SEAT, because the holes on the floor will be too WIDE when you fit the rails onto the seat.

so what do you do? drill out the holes that go to the floor on the rail and make them WIDER. once you do that, bolt them down. the hole in the back next to the armrest will be a BITCH to put back on.

i know this sounds confusing, but that's how you do it.

 

With both they would save you about 18 lbs compared top the stock vert seat.

Wouldn't it just have been easier to bolt the stock rails onto two rectangular sheets of 16 awg steel and the drill the sheet steel to match the seat bottoms?

And yes the brackets/sliders are the same for 'verts as for coupes.

I am going with the tenzo red seats in my vert. I know everyone who owns a honda has them but they fit great and fit me great.

They may look nice, but the knockoffs don't provide as much comfort. I decided to go with some '03 celica seats. They are awesome, feel nice and look even better.

That's the only way I thought you could put different seats in

so how comfortable are those seats... I like the DAD seats because the memory foam, but need to either find a GXL seat with good foam that I can rip apart, or replace both seats on my vert with something aftermarket.

 

Like these, but too damn expensive at $890 a pop.

well, after you break them in they are pretty comfortable... it doesn't have much padding, but it doesn't really give me any back problems on long trips(~200 miles). and they hold you in, that's for sure. but it's not a 'suffocating' feel, if you know what i mean.

 

Haven't seen the DAD seats on EBay for awhile -- anyone have a source or seen them?

 

something i dont like about the stock seats, is that after about an hour or so of driving, your back is sweating... do the aftermarkets do this same type of thing?

 

yeah thats why i was elated at the RX-Evolv's seats. they had a thin mesh backing which reduces weight, but more importantly lets your back breathe instead of walking out of the car like a mexican (ethnic slur)

 

How much do the stock seats weigh, for comparison purposes?

I dont like the stock seats cuz the lumbar support is below my back :-p Long trips I have to shift a lot. (And oh, do I make a lot of long trips)

 

GXL/Vert seats (without leather or headrest speakers) weigh about 35lbs each. With leather and headrest speakers, much closer to 40lbs.

I imagine Turbo style seats (as found in the Turbos, 87.5 Sports, 88 GTU, 89-90 GTUs models) are also probably pretty close to that 35-40lbs, as they almost have the same adjustments.
