Replacement Key
If you own a second gen, use any of your buddy's second gen key- it will probably work

Unless you regularly spray lube in them...
But seriously- go to the dealer with the vin, as mentioned above.

same thing happened to me. take off your passenger door panel, look for a number thats not that long, i think its either on the door solenoid or somewhere on the door. take it to mazda and they will make you one for around 4 bucks..as long as you have that number!

yeah, pretty much any fc key will work. hah. so does mazda provide keys with black rubber/plastic key ... handle, thingers? i can't find one anywhere, and all i have is a crappy all metal key.
despite the remarks above, they are different from car to car. I have two FCs and the keys are NOT interchangeable.
Take your title up to a dealer and have them make you one.
In my area, they at least want some proof you own the car.

thanks, i appreciate the response.... i was just a little sceptical, when i gave my vin to the dealer here he returned with a key code of 11111. that just didnt seem right and i thought there might be another way to do it.
