NZ, Not to get into a little post competition with your ego or anything, but you just showed him how to not make his car run right.

You only need the smog pump if you have working 6 ports and want to keep them working. If you've wired them open or removed the sleaves then you can take it off without any problems.

You'll need an ACV block off plate as that won't be needed anymore either.

If you want to keep your 6 ports working, you'll need to come up with another method of providing the air pressure or some form of mechanical opperation of the solenoids.

My air pump is only connected to my 6 ports.

The aux port system on an 87 is operated by exhaust backpressure. It's the 89-on engines that use the air pump.

I could come up with some witty comment about this, but I just can't be bothered...

Correct, but if he has or wants to put a free flowing exhaust on his rex then he will have to wire the ports, remove them or use the air pump home plumbed to accuate them......

Make sure you don't have cats if you remove the air pump. Bad ACV/no air pump=dead cats. Dead cats=BAD.

ok, so lemme get this straight (this whole air pump thing baffles me) If I ever get a free flowing exhaust for an 86 GXL I will have to redo the plumbing from the Air Pump so that I can use all six ports? What about if I got the single exhaust from Mazdatrix that has the actuators in it? Will that be good?

if you actually searched for "air pump" or "6 ports" you wouldn't be asking this question, it has been answered it seems like an ungodly amount of times, infinite I guess
