Hey guys, I want to remove the ABS system on my turbo II to free up some space and weight...Is this possible or is the ECU going to freak out? Anyone out there done this before?

I have an 88AE. It has a pump in it that was not hooked up. I don't know 100% for sure it was an original AE or an 88 T2 that someone did up to look like an AE because I'm told AE's dont have ABS. Anyway the pump was in place but not connected and brakes work fine so I disconnected and removed the pump. No big difference in engine bay really... helped to remove ACV I guess.

Hey Blake, check Ted Koseki's site (http://www.fc3s-pro.com) - he's got a TII registry on there that you might find useful in IDing your might-be-an-AE

I don't know how much the ABS remove cost me because it was done as part of a bunch of other work the car was getting too (suspension goodies)

The stock ABS unit is a piece of crap though. There's 2 models of it btw, and it's important to know which you have. They are

1) leaking
2) going to be leaking soon
