HELP. Need someone to verify what this noise is.

Here's the deal. I pulled my baby out of storage a couple weeks ago. She got a new paint job, new windshield, new tires, and floormats. She looks great. I drove it 160 miles the first day I had her out of the paint shop.

I made it across state from the Tri-cities area where my parents live and drove back to Big Rapids where I live now. About half way there, something started to howl and make the car shake slightly. If I give it gas, the noise quits, but the noise gets worse when the clutch gets pushed in. Now, a clunking noise can be heard coasting around corners and the noise is constantly there on the road.

It sounds and feels just like my S-10 did when the U-joint went out in it. I am going to check out the driveshaft on Wednesday night, but I was hoping someone else could confirm my thoughts on it being the driveshaft gone to hell.

I would say U joint or spacers (if any) on wheels. I know on my 626 with spacers, I blew one half out, they wheel stayed on but it sucked and sounded like crap when I was Idleing

No spacers on the wheels. Stock 14" SE rims with new rubber. The noise sounds central location. I think it is behind me to the right and the passenger seems to think it is coming from behind to the left.

I am assuming you have the Mazdatrix driveshaft w/ the replaceable U-joints then?

I didn't think you could rebuild the OEM ones.

If it is rebuildable, where did you get the U-joints from?
