Regrounding boost sensor

Re grounding the boost/atmospheric pressure sensor on my 87 N/A engine

I dont have a solid black wire... nor do i have a brown wire

I have Brown/white.. Brown/Yellow.. Black/Brown stripes.. and Brown/blue stripes

Which one do i reground? i was at discount auto today and couldnt remember which one it was. and i didnt want to fry my ECU. Also i am regrounding my ECU tomorrow morning. (To TRY and get rid of 3800 Hesitation) I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Think 10 Guage wire will be ok?

Thanks. Markus

I *think* its the black/br wire. Double check that first, I dont want you to blow the ecu. But 10gauge is fine.

OK: Is there a diff from Boost sensor (shock tower) to atmospheric pressure sensor... i though they were the same thing.. i guessed wrong. anyway, i'm trying to reground the BOOST sensor on my N/A... located on the pass. front strut tower. i am currently looking thru the FSM (THanks dr0x) for the wireing... any input would be great too
thanks

On a 86 it's a brown wire with a black stripe. Somewhere in 87, I think they changed it to a pure black wire.

Brown/black....ground

Brown/white.....5v ref voltage

Brown/red......output of the BOOST SENSOR

Black/white.... 12v input

The above only for series four.

The atmospheric pressure sensor is above and to the right of the passengers knees/feet.

A 18/20 gauge wire will do just fine for the Boost sensor.

******Otherwise there goes my ECU huh?*******

Nope. Do any of the other wires compare with the list above???? Before I would ground the wire.....I'd get a meter out and see if the wire is grounded. Pull the plug. Get on it. Should read less than one, 1, ohm.

With the key on, the brown/red should read approx 5 volts. The black/white 12volts, the brown/red close to nothing (irrelevant voltage), and the brown/black less than one ohm when the meter is switched to ohms.

You might peel back the covering over the wires. Over time the colors fade a bit. I have a 86 and 87 and both have the colors described above and the fsm also states the same colors I gave earlier.

Altenator bracket - Chassis
Negitive Batt. - Chassis

Yo,

Bump for the Series 5 guys. What color wire on my 1989 GTUs? Did some grounding yesterday, trying to get the boost sensor today.

I don't have a voltmeter...any help from those in the know is appreciated!

Arigato!
