rear diff. question

a friend of mine is going to be putting a 4.3 out of a gtus in his 88 gxl. the question is would he need anything else to put it on his car? such as the axles from the gtus?

...You might want to be careful...

I just swapped my '90 GXL diff for a GTUs one, and the right (passenger) half shaft that goes into the case is longer than the standard length. The same statement is also written in the Factory Service Manual for N/A diffs with the viscous L.S.D. I hope you have the GTUs half shafts.

ONLY the GTUs came with a 4.3 diff. You can buy those gears for a different car for like $450 from racing beat.

Yes, the GTUs also is the only N/A to come with a viscus style LSD. The half shafts dont match up with any other car, and you can tell they are the right ones because they are UNEQUAL LENTH (One is way longer then the other)

BOTH shafts are different sizes, the small side is smaller, and the long side is longer. Do not use the same half shafts for either side when doing this swap.

You will need: The whole diff assembly, including halfshafts.

Not including the CVs, they are the same.

That is all.
