RB header + bonez cat?

i noticed on the exhaust pic thread that a member has this setup. does this require extra cutting and does it actually connect to the catback?
if so, which cat replacement is it? (part number)

it seems that the would be quieter than a resonator and smell less horrible.

That was me... I have the RB header with the Bonez high flow cat after it. The cat bolts up to the header just find, BUT i cannot say whether or not the RB header to bonez high flow cat will bolt up to the stock catback or not. Everything after the cat was custom piped/welded by an exhaust shop... no cutting was needed since the two bolted up to each other, and the part was from rx7.com and was part number EX800622 called Bönez 2.5" Performance Main Cat Only Replacement for $250

Once again, I dont know if this will be long enough to reach the stock y-pipe without some customization since my catback is custom. Good luck! What you could do is get the RB header, bonez main cat and then a couple mufflers and just have it custom welded up, that would be just expensive or cheaper than some of the aftermarket systems out there

Ohhhhh, didn't notice that part. I know that a RB header won't bolt to the stock cat, so there is no way the Bonez cat could bolt up to it without a change in position. That bonez cat you have must have been moved "back" so it could bolt to the header.

I wouldn't doubt that, but since my catback was all custom made it wasn't a big deal. It was actually cheaper to have it custom made than getting one of the other catbacks out there (like the apexi n1's etc).

There is a few inches between the cat and the header, that you'll need to fabricate a peice to fill, or cut and extend the cat.

(only with a stock, or stock fitting, catback system)

That's good to hear. I have the bonez cat, along with a custom 2.5" catback... I wonder if I can still pull this off, or if I'll need to extend/shorten the cat-back.

Should be getting my RB header in about 3 or 4 weeks

What kind of a gain did you notice with this setup?

well if your catback is the stock length then i dont think it'll reach without some customization...

Before I put on my current exhaust, the last owner had already put on the rb header and had a pre-silencer to hks catback, but i replaced the pre-silencer with the cat cuz i have to pass emissions and then got a custom catback made and sold all the old stuff.. plus the way it was set up before the aux ports were not opening since the split air selenoid wasnt hooked up to draw pressure, so i didnt notice much of a gain, if any, until i got the aux ports working again, now i can definately notice a difference between them functioning and not functioning heh

Mazdatrix produces an aftermarket catalytic converter that comes with the extension pipe built in. It will bolt directly to the Racing Beat header, but it's very expensive at over $400.
