radiator problem
radiator problem
okay guys i just drained my radiator and replaced my thermostat , and flushed everything, the problem is my drain plug for my radiator was stripped(previous owner) and i disconnected the bottom rad hose to drain it i flushed the whole system with water and filled the radiator to the top with water , not thinking how i was gonna get the 50/50 antifreeze mix in , now im stuck with a empty engine and a full rad with only water , what can i do
ya i know i can do that but that would result in me taking out the fan shroud , battery etc , because i cant drain it properly , can i just fill the reservoir with pure antifreeze and let it mix itself?
cant i just run water till the pump sucks that in then fill the rest with pure antifreeze?, wont the rad full of water eventually empty into the engine allowing me to refill it with antifreeze?

yah i guess ill do that if there is no other way its just a pain to remove the fan cover, with means removing batter and the holder for it and i cut my hand open putting that back on today looks like im out of luck and im gonna end up doing that.. lol
You can kinda coax it through the engine if the block is completely empty or it has lots of air in it. If you squeeze the upper or lower rad hose it will act like a pump, but it is *not* a super fast proccess. You need to have the rad cap off when you trying to prime the system. Cover the rad cap with your hand when you squeeze the hose, then let off of the filler when you let go of the hose. This will force water into the block and air to come back through to the filler. It is not a fast process, but if you are patient, it will work.
As for the stripped drain plug, remove the air cleaner box and see if you can get to the lower hose that way. I think that is how I got to the lower rad hose. Also make sure your heater control is set to hot so the coolant will flow through the heater core too. If you can't get to the hose at the rad, then remove it from the waterpump housing.

also, i had just flushed the rad a day ago and there was a bit of 50 50 Premix sitting in the reservoir but now when i drained the rad it was golden? and all i had put was water could this mean that my coolant seals are done??
