Radiator leaking under no pressure??
Radiator leaking under no pressure??
Hey guys,
I went to fill up my car's radiator (a former JDM turbo rad with 60k miles on it) for the first time since my swap. Once the water got up to the top of the radiator I noticed it seeping out of a few fins, but as I inspected it further, I realized it was seeping out between the plastic endtank and the aluminum. I realize that the plastic endtanks often do this, but is it usually as bad as under zero pressure like this? I did not notice anything physically damaged about this radiator, which is why I used it... the amount of water coming out of it is almost like the overflow port on the NA is still open, but I cannot find an equivalent port on either neck of the TII radiator which could be open like this.
Is this truly indicative of a busted radiator or is there a subtle difference between the TII type with the filler port on the radiator and the NA type with the filler port on the water pump neck and an overflow port on the radiator?
Thanks a lot!
Oh, I went ahead and bought a fluidyne radiator anyway (broke the bank but I did it) so its not a major point but I want to make sure I did the right thing.
Thanks!
(and, I'm pretty sure my sig posted this time
)
