Radiator Drain Plug.
ok i need a drain plug for the radiator. I got the 1986 NA Rx7. No autozone or simmilar has it. and it gonna cost over $12 from the mazda dealership...which i will not do. I did a search and found out that the size of the plug threads which is 12 x 1.25 ~10 .I guess the guy got the part from lowes.... does anyone know if that size is the correct size, and which section in lowes would I find this part? is it gonna have a socket head or the same phillip head?
the drain plug is the same as the plug on the top of the radiator for the air bleed valve.. thats what I need it for is for the top air bleed valve... i will be taking in my drain plug to compare.
i need to know what section in lowes, because my dad will be the one taking me to get the part....and I dont want to waste his time looking all day for a lill screw.. i need this plug so i can finish my tune up and start driving again... just put a new water pump on... i will be super pissed if this car over heats and leaks major *** coolant like it did.

Most 12X1.25mm bolts are gonna be WAAAAY too long to use as a drain plug... you could try cutting one shorter, but you might mess up the threads.
Although, if you had a 12mm rod, and the right die (tap/die sets cost between 14 dollars to 350 dollars+), and a way to cut a slit on the other end (for a driver), you could fabricate your own plug... just make sure it's designed so it can't go in too far (make sure it has a head of some kind). Or use said die to fix the threads of the bolt you cut down.
I personally don't like having a plastic plug hold in the 2nd most vital liquid in my car...
But actually, there's probably an oil plug out there that will fit...

I just went through the same thing. I think the thread is 1.25mm
I had bought a drain plug from the dealer ship and it didn't fit. It cost me 15 dollars.
I went to autozone and got a Mazda plug (plastc) it looks like a butterfly and it fit perfect. I think its a 626 plug. I am not sure. I think the Turbo II and N/A plug are different sizes.
Spend the money...even if u find a bolt u'll still need a rubber o ring or seal to keep it from leakiing.

Im a senior in High school and I dont have a job.... i dont have a job...due to this POFS mazda.. I have $90 to get this car running decently.. so I am not going to spend $12-15 for a screw that is worth $1.25 Max. almost every part for this car is rare and has to be special ordered or you have to go to the dealer and pay 3 times as much, or they dont know wtf you are talking about....it's one thing after another with this pofs rice burner... i shuld have kept my camaro and just fixed that...that wuld have been wise. looking for alternatives like exact thread size and diameter of the screw?

I guess that puts it into perspective. Out of 90 bucks, 12 bucks is a large chunk.
Go to the hardware store and buy some plugs.. test fit them... if needed, grind them down so they fit. They'll be like a buck a piece... buy a couple sizes.. return what you don't need.
Or.. here's an idea. Go donate blood/plasma and get 12 bucks to go buy your other one. LOL.

If warren is near cincinnati 383, there are a few junkyards that have some rx7's and your part/s.. I cry when I see them there :p.. oh well..... and the RX7 is awesome, just not as popular (common) as a camaro

there are bonuses... but the job i chose did not have a bonus, so i am reschedueling to go back up to MEPS to see if i get a job with a bonus...if not i will discharge from the Army DEP program and switch to the National guard... as they guarantee a $20,000 sign on bonus for select jobs that they are hurting for... and all will be guaranteed in the contract... so we will see what my army recruiter can pull off at meps..if not i will be switching.

Better yet you can put a twin turbo 3 rotor in a corvette and blow away the other corvettes. Then take it to a corvette show and **** off the V8 guys and say "Thats what you get for raping all of our RX-7s with your camshafts and valves!"
I'd like to do this with the "last corvette stringray" on speed, except I would melt down the original block and tranny and use it to make the coustom tranny and engine mounts and stick dynamite in the rest of it and blow it the **** up.
Sorry...
/ anti V8 rampage

I went to Pep Boys and got a generic drain plug for cheap. I use that for my air bleeder plug.
But seriously, come down to earth here. If you can't find a plug soon, then don't waste your time and gas money driving all over the place. Just pay the $12. And you ain't getting a twin turbo 20B that runs if you aren't prepared to fork over money for basic maintenance items first (not afterwards). For that matter be happy with the speed you have; the FC is decently fast, and you can upgrade it if you want more. A twin turbo 20B will run you $50k and you won't even be able to use half the power without immediately flying off the side of the road. Get a Haynes manual. Change out every maintenance item and everything that needs fixing both right away and as soon as the time comes later on. Swap in a TII engine, get a standalone ECU for safe/reliable/conservative tuning later on, upgrade the fuel system, add a knock sensor and boost meter, slap on some performance bolt-ons, get a street port and then humiliate the corvettes.
