Quick question regarding front cover o-ring

These are pictures of my front cover o-ring below. The car has good oil pressure cold and then warm it has none at idle and 30psi at 3k rpm and up. I tested a couple different senders and they all showed the same thing. I found some copper in my oil pan but the engine ran very smooth. Anyway, I'm just curious if this is considered an o-ring "squeeze out" and if it would cause the oil pressure to do what I described.
I did search, but I couldn't find any pictures of failed o-rings...

Thanks.

it isn't helping but no, that o-ring is still sealing up your front cover and not your problem.

Thanks. I guess I'm checking the pickup tube, gasket, etc. next.
I'm looking around but I figure since this thread is already started I'll ask here...
There isn't anyway the oil pump would only fail when the car warms up right?

nope, but the oil will thin out as the engine warms up and gaps in anything that carries oil will result in more of a drop in oil pressure. so excessive wear will show up when warm versus cold.

a worn oil pump would give similar symptoms, as well as worn rotor/stat bearings and e-shaft journals.

This is what I found when I dropped the oil pan. I just changed the oil a few weeks ago and found metal but the car had sat forever. I guess I'll pull the front stack off and see if I can tell anything from the front stationary gear. Worst case scenario; I'll do a t2 swap with my financial aid...

is it metallic?

i have seen similar from engines that sat outside of engine bays for periods of time and could just be snot(condensation formations) that accumulated if it isn't metallic. but i can almost make out a needle roller in the last picture, if so... engine is probably toast and needs all new bearings and e-shaft.

It is shavings of metal. The front stationary gear didn't look horrible as far as copper showing, but it did have some scratches and feels rough.

well i guess you need to dig deeper to find out where the metal did come from.

Front stationary gear didn't look that bad other than some scratches. I'm assuming the rotor bearings are toast. The eccentric shaft looked discolored badly which usually means it was starved of oil (imo). I'm hoping to get it pulled today, but I'll have to find a shop to remove the flywheel nut.. You'd think after five or six disassembles I'd buy the socket, but nope.
