Question quick question...

my friend keeps telling me i need a new engine because i have 115k on mine and its an 87...and he says its not fast and all this ****...(keep in mind he is 16 and does not have his license) so he has no actual car experience...but i dunno, is he right? would my power go down because the engine is getting up there? i mean i drive the thing. i can feel the damn power, i know im still within like in the 8 second range from 0-60 or somewhere near that...i can feel it, what do you think??

p.s. and would there be a difference in piston engine to mine? i mean would a piston engine or a rotary engine loose power more as it aged, or is it the same?

Compression test it. Low compression = low power. Near factory spec @ 120k miles is just as good as near factory sepc @ 20k miles.

You would need a compression gauge or a trip to your local Mazda dealer.
