A stock ecu will hold it but were talking about using the stock redline (you wont be making good power yet) and stock fuel mixtures (very weak could lean out). So shell out the cash for an ems before a bridgeport

At sevenstock there was at least one person who was running a bridgeport with the stock ECU, so I guess it's possible, although it seems like it's really backwards to do a huge port before upgrading anything else! I mean, you can make pretty damned good power with a big turbo, ECU, etc., and most people do that WAY before going to a bridge!

Seems a bit odd ,

Id rather bridge an engine before I put it in a car, regardless of whats on that car. Rather than pulling it again later, taking it back apart, and porting. Reverse.

You mean rotor housings?

Start small and work up to your big Ports.

You need a EMS,Turbo Injectors the lot before you can run any more than 220/230bhp anyway.

You'll need large injectors, but the stock turbo will choke (as mentioned) a bridgeport, so you will be safe on the stock ECU as long as you keep it fueled and don't go crazy.

I agree. Doesn't seem like you know what all is involved with bridgeporting a car, besides just the porting of the engine.

To do it properly you will need the following:

- have the engine rebuilt when you go to port it
- larger secondary injectors (1200cc or 1600cc)
- larger fuel pump (or another stock pump - run two)
- front mount intercooler with piping
- larger turbo (stock turbo + bridgeport = me laughing at you going slow)
- exhaust manifold
- EMS system (stock ECU = better have damn good luck... possible but a VERY bad choice)
- upgraded clutch (not just the disc)
- upgraded ignition system
- external wastegate
- blow-off valve
- boost controller

That's a GENERAL list of what all you need - there is more. As you can imagine, the price tag on all that stuff comes up pretty hefty unless you slowly buy the parts over time.

Do some searches in the Rotary Performance and Single Turbo forums for "bridgeport" and see what you come up with... there might be some info there that can help you.

From what I've read, I agree with other members and suggest you do some other upgrades first. A streetported rotary can make tones of power. There is no need to go bridgeported right now. I know of many streetported 13B engine out there making 400-500 hp with single turbos running boost levels in the 13-25 psi range. If I were you, say streetported unless you want over 500 rwhp. Even then, make sure you damn well know what you're getting into before you dive in.

Good luck!

What about the streetability of a bridgeport? Do they idle well or make very good low to mid-range power?

Here is a video to show how a bridgeported 13B idles.

http://www.vosko.net/media <-- click on "full bridge idle.wmv"

I believe this is member Soul Assassin's car, which put out 620 rhwp @ 25psi using an HKS t51 turbocharger if I'm not mistaken.

They generally idle at about 1200-1500 rpm, as you can see in the video where it shows the RPM gauge as well. The idle is constant and "raps" kind of like a piston engine with HUGE cams. brap-brap-brap-brap-brap

The streetability is ok. Some people say it's not streetable much, some say it's easily streetable. Then again, some people say extreme peripheral ports are streetable too, so it's hard to say. The mid-range and up power is AMAZING. Don't count on anything down low though.. it's all mid-high end power band. Your fuel consumption will be amazing (amazing at how much fuel it uses!). Driveability ok, fuel consumption lots, extremely loud, but still streetable.

Hope this helps.
