Question question on s5 motor

Well me and my freind went to test drive a 1991 5-speed vert. The car is very nice inside and out i mean like 9 outta 10 for a score. Its all stock except for the Racing Beat y pipe. Well when we started it up, the engine made some kina wine....or a whooshing noise like the rotors were acting up or something. But when i pushed the clutch in while it was parked the noise went away and everything was quiet. When i released the clutch the noise came back again.

Its really strange because that noise is pulsing through the exhuast. The car needs some need belts so it speaks alittle but when i put my head under the hood that wine/whooshing noise came down below...towards the stock header and tranny.

The car has about 169k though maybe thats why? lol But we drove it and it ran STRONG i mean STRONG. So i told my freind (who wants to buy it) that i'll post our question on the club.

What could it be guys? any ideas? Is it because its a s5 engine?

Well, if you push the clutch in, the throw out bearing is turning, and it states that the noise stops when the clutch is pushed in. The transmission stops turning when pedal depressed. Probably transmission noise. If you let up on the pedal the cluch is engaged, and the trans starts turning once again.

Throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, input shaft bearing, or simply it needs a fluid change.
