Pulsation Damper

I'm just putting this out for the record because I had so much trouble finding good info on this. Mazda currently sells a Pulsation Damper that will not leak or come loose for 86-88s. The person I talked to ownes a 84 GXL-SE and said he personally uses the same PD on his car with no problems. So it looks like Mazda patched the problem up. In Maryland the part sells for 157 dollars. And it'll take about 3hours worth of work to install. Which is about 268 dollars. Pretty cheap for peace of mind if you ask me.

Angry

Just to let you people know. I got a hold of the new PD form Maz dealer a year ago, and they specifically said that this was a revised part with all the needed updates to fix the leak issue. I just replaced one of my intake gaskets and the PD had the screw out.
To all of you out there, don't bother with the new PD, just JBweld the screw on your old one and keep it like it is. the new ones are waste of time !!!

yep i talked to the local mazda dealer about 6 months ago about a replacment and they said my only option was to buy a new one and just replace it and that it would be exactly what was on the car now...

DO NOT!!! JBweld it. After a year and a half my old engine in a new car, (JBweld PD) Let go luckily we caught it and fixed.

My best suggestion is to go Banjo bolt.

don't go to that mazda dealer again, because mazda had done like 3 different revisions of the PD for 86-88. I'm not possitive about 89-91. But I'm sure it got looked at too. But I know for a fact that the 86-88 got updated, I bought one last week.

Oh, I won't. The fact that they give me the identical part at $100 is enough reason for me to stay away, or the fact that everything I have ever ordered has always arrived in two days, or the fact that they called me in to test drive the first GT RX-8 they took stock of. Certainly sounds like a place to stay away from.

I personally load the pages from their parts fiche's on their computers and check the part numbers. they have not changed. Sorry to inform you.

Ok, I'll get the revision date of the part so you can take it back to the dealership and have them replace it again for free. Plus, 90% of the time the dealerships have know idea what they are talking about when it comes to RX7s. I wouldn't hang on to everyword they say.
