psuh button start

does anybody have tips on push button start ideas. I know it is a juvenile project but if I can get some cheap ideas, why not.
THanks

I never got into this but I wanted to do it myself several month ago. Let me know how it goes if you get it hooked up.

push button start

i did it on my 87 gxl. very easy, just get a 30 amp relay from radio shack, a momentary off on button and some 12gauge wire. take off the shroud around the steering column. I am at work so i cant give you the wire colors to use but there easy to find. use a test light to see which of the large wires coming into the switch always has 12 volts coming in. then look for another large wire that only has power when you turn the switch into the cranking position. once you find these. it is simply a matter of jumping from one to the other though you relay. find acc power to run throught the push button and then the relay with the other lead going to ground. after that you got it. just mount the switch. i put mine on the face of the guage cluster just above the emergency light switch. added an led light also to show when the switch was powered.

No Key

I think the push buttton start is a great idea. However using the key defeats the purpose. I have a kill switch on my car and I plan to shave the door handels when I repaint it. So that removes the theft problem. The only thing is I need my accasories to come on wo/ the key. anyone have some ideas for this? I think being able to operatat the car WITHOUT the key is way cooler than just the simple push button idea. Any thoughts??

Even without door handles, I GAURANTEE I can open the door on your rx-7 in less than 10 seconds. I mean legit, no damage to any parts, no breaking windows, nothing. If anyone else knows how to do this, keep it on the down low. I would tell you how to fix it, but I dont' want anyone knowing how to do it and that would give it away.

Also, push button starting, how stupid, just turn the damn key. I've heard nothing but COMPLAINTS at how annoying it is on the S2000. Its a novelty that will wear off on the 5th start. You are putting the key in anyways, its just another annoying step, just turn the damn key to start your car. If you want another step, put in a fuel cutoff to protect your car.

Hmmmm...

Don't think i'll be putting one on my car, but it could be a cool little thing to have. It would just end up pissing me off, put the key in, turn it to acc. then push a button to start the car.. If you really wanted an easy way, i think jc whitney sport compact had one that fit in your cigarette lighter.... - not sure how the wiring would go, but you could do it as mazda7 says.. I think i would want it so that the key could no longer start it, and just have a hidden button somewhere that starts it with just a push... just my $.o2...
