Question PS might've broke?

So i was driving, and all of a sudden my steering got a little stiffer... It wasn't too bad, but it was definately noticeable. After about 15-20 mph or so the steering felt almost normal just slightly stiffer, but at slower speeds or from a stop it was much more notceable. Now the thing is, I've unhooked my PS before to see if I wanted to remove it, and I was told this isnt the same as removing the PS but it replicates a broken PS. However, this is nowhere near as bad as when the PS was unhooked, its actually not that bad at all. So what happened? did my PS die? or what? If this is what removing the PS is like I think im going to do it.

my power steering was doing this and i just got rid of it. i like it much better now. i was planning on takeing it out anyway. it started to get really annoying when it would just be working for like 10 minutes then i would have no power steering and just keep switching back and forth. just take it out.

so when yours was doing that and not working at times, was the stiffness the same when you took it out as it was when it wasnt working?
