What size tires you got there? 285?

I'm running 245s right now. The largest I can go with my rims is 255.

I think they're bigger than 285. His rim width is nearly 13 inches.

The rears are 315's I should be able to run up to 345 in the rear. Once I eviscerate these 315's I'll probably step up to 335's. My fronts are 295's.

Thanks for the observations NZ. I am putting the undertray back on so that will be taken care of.

I think that the intake is pretty decent. The bends are smooth, no 90*s, and there are only 2. Maybe a bay-pod would be less restricion, but it woud have to be mounted near the turbo... thus getting hot.

But I don't really know much about those pods. Maybe it shields heat really well?

The shielding is sufficient enough to insulate the filter from the heat generated by the turbo.

I would think ambient air over 150+ degree engine bay air would have better results even with more intake restriction. With the same setup( single/no IC), but the air filter to the side of the radiator, another car was seeing 200deg intake temperatures. I am curious now that you bring it up though, maybe when we dyno it we can do a back to back. I definitely don't like using 3" tubing, bends, or a long distance, but hes got the a/c condensor and stock windshield wiper res in the way, not real alternative way to get ambient air.

First things is first though, needs a much bigger fuel system, and post compressor methanol injection..

I see two 90's and a 45... You're right that they're nice swept bends though.

Maybe a bay-pod would be less restricion, but it woud have to be mounted near the turbo... thus getting hot.
You mount is as far into the corner of the engine bay as it'll go and then make an effective heat shield to keep engine bay air out. Cut some holes in the sheet metal to allow outside air in. This set-up has worked quite well for me (see pic in sig), but I noticed that when I put the missing stock heat shields back on the turbo and wrapped the DP, it worked even better.

But I don't really know much about those pods. Maybe it shields heat really well?
I'd just use the pod filter you have.

It may not practical to do what I suggested with your turbo set-up, but then I had to fit the AFM in as well so it might be fine. I looked at doing something similar to you, but in the end decided extra pipe is extra restriction, even if it had no bends.

I didn't mean an exposed pod in the engine bay. I'd never suggest that over him current set-up. I should've been clearer on that.

I've got both of those too. I just cut two big holes in the sheetmetal, in beside and one in front of the pod. The spaces on the other side of these holes aren't sealed so outside air can easily get in. I also modified the stock brake duct to allow a little more air in there.

Hey NZ... obviously I cant measure angles very well... LOL

I like your suggestion. Like Elliott said, I'll get a pod fab'd up and do dyno comparison.

But the most important thing on the list is the fuel system. Once that gets nailed down, I'll move on to the fine tuning.

I was under the impression that you were talking about a sealed box as well, but still thought that a metal box in the engine bay would get heat soaked. This is mostly based on my experience with the stock inter-heater... But the modified duct would be a good idea.

It's not a box as such, but mine is essentially sealed off from the engine bay. The heat shield is cut to roughly follow the shape of the body and has foam rubber edging, and there's adhesive foam rubber strips stuck to the underside of the hood that seals the top.

I'm not a big fan of fabbed airboxes, as most of the ones I've seen use the available space inefficiently.

I have my car in the shop this week.

I need to get my new 1600cc secondaries put in

Heat shield fab'd up

New brake master installed

Stock pulley back on instead of the underdrive

Engine bay clean up

Shorter spark plug wires

MoTeC wires cleaned up and wiper switch re-wired

As promised, a pic of my heat shield



New oil filler neck. Now my catch can is fully functional.



BOV placement on my new charge pipe. Now I don't have to worry about compressor surge. I also got my plug wires shortened.



New master installed, and MoTeC wires cleaned up. Wiper switch works... but those pics would be boring...

So here is the pump I just ordered. Much better than the windshield wash pump I am using. The temps are gonna raise here in Phoenix soon so I need to get the second injector staged in.
