The problems arent over. Very little boost.

Sorry started new thread, new problem. It is running good idles good, starts right up. The problem is if I get on it there isnt any boost passed zero bar. its a j spec gauge so it starts on like -20 and goes to 45. The boost gauge willl go up to zero and nothing else. Is my wastegate stuck open maybe. Thinking maybe an issue with how I hooked up some vaccuum lines. I have a hallmann manual boost controller in line with the compressor housing and the wastegate actuator and according to the instructions it is hooked up correctly. I have pressure sensor and aftermarket BOV tee'd together getting vaccuum off the back of the UIM. I havent seen BOV open at all but I'm assuming because it hasnt seen enough boost yet. I have an rtec 1.8 and 720 injectors and 3in exhaust no restriction, so it doesnt seem like it should have a problem boosting.

The only way the boost controller would interfere with the wastegate is in the up direction. It can't lower the pressure, since the stock wastegate is set by spring pressure. See if the arm has fallen off the wastegate. Even then, unless you've ported your wastegate passage you should still see some boost due to creep.

Boost controller should be hooked up fine. I have it dialed all the way down. I don't even need it but I bought it a while back so I wanted to have it on there. When I rev it up it makes a wierd noise throuth the intake as it deccelerates. the sound pulsates. also the exhaust looks like it is burning rich. it is blueish when I accelerate

Get an aftermarket boost gauge, setting the mbc according to the stock gauge will cost you a motor in the end..

Check the turbo shaft. No boost plus smoke sounds like a blown turbo

What is the procedure for checking the turbo shaft. When I had the intake off I noticed there was a little play right there inside the turbo. is there suppose to be any play? Also before I did all this work to it I wasn't having any problems with boost. The engine only has about 60,000 miles on it, not that means anything.

Take off the intake, feel the play and check if it turns freely

Hope you didn't drop a nut inside the compressor when you were doing all that work to it

Well I was being careful. I had clean towels in any openings just to make sure that didnt happen. When I was checking ouy the turbo before it had some play and turned freely. I will check it again when I get off work to make sure that is still the case.

So the turbo turns smooth and easy and the play isnt more than a little wiggle.

I have a jspec so I have no check engine light. Wanted to check codes with the multimeter but not sure how and having troubles finding it on here. I know I ground the single pin connector to get codes to flash, but I need the six pin connector to read them and not sure what to do there..

O kay so I took it out so that I could open it up a little and the boost gause went up. You could tell that it was creeping, it just continued to climb. I will go get a boost gauge, but can anyone tell methe conversion for the jspec gauge. it goes from -200 to 450 mmHg. Also having an issue with hunting idle. I took a lot of smog stuff off. only thing I hace left is BAC and charcoal canister.

Also looking over the codes I dont see a code for lean or rich. Will I be able to tell if I'm running lean or rich with this system. I got a set of injectors that claim to be 720cc but I'm always skeptical. Should I just have them flow tested myself.

Dont go by the stock boost gauge, back when i still had the stock ecu and sensors i was running 14psi and the gauge went only halfway.. buy a boost gauge!

To check mixture you need an air/fuel gauge, preferably a wideband.
Or go oldskool and check the plugs, if you know what to look for...

720cc injectors won't work on a stock ecu, so you would need something to control fuel

Does it pull likes it is making boost or do you think just because the gauge does not show boost you are not making any??
If the turbo turns freely, and you dont have a massive leak it should work.
Unless you have a clogged cat
