pricing tII conversion on s4

i have a 86 na 5 speed. I was quoted 1600 for engine, ecu harness shipped. The engine is a jdm with roughly 30-60 miles on it. Is this a good price? The front end 5 lug setup is taken care of. As for the rear i was quoted 250. The tranny and driveshaft i havent really looked into yet, price wise at least. What im wondering is just how much will i be spending here with everything? I have about 2400 i could spend, maybe 3000. Dont tell me to just sell my na, get a tII, I've looked every single one is alot of money at least 6k with alot of miles on it as well. I would love to fix up na but im looking for a 13 sec car hopefully daily driven. Thanks everyone,
kevin.

sweet let me know that sounds like a good deal. Also i know this isnt really concerning rx7s but i would like you're guys opinion anyway. I've been looking at dsms as well and they say i can get a 1g into the 13s with like a grand of mods. I've seen a bunch of 1gs awd, turbo for like 1500, 2000. Is it really worth it or should i just stick with the 7. I mean the pros of keeeping the 7, in my opinion are
-better looking epspecialy just a little bit lowered with some 17 or 18 wheels.
-Rwd! which i like better except i live in colorado which sucks for rwd.
-rotary engine is sweet especially in higher end
-rx7 seems a little bit more reliable than a dsm especially in build quaility. I dont have to worry about door handles breaking, windows falling off track crap like that.

anyway Driftingb26RX7, drop me a url or phone to contact them,

-kevin.

frankly i think $1600 is a steal for a complete swap. my local tuner shop is asking $2000 but then again being in california everythings just a lil bit more expensive. gl with ur swap.

If you can find a messed up doner car for cheap ($500 to $100) and use everything from the brakes and subframe (also has ANYTHING else you need on hand ;o). Then you can also have that engine rebuilt or get a j-spec for $1,200 or so.

If you want everything individually the price will be between $1,500 and $3,000 (at the most really). I wish I had the link of a guy who did the swap (in an s5 mind you, some **** is a little bit more expensive). I think it cost him $2,800 ( ? ! ). Search also and you may find some info.

Good luck and I hope I was a help.

PS: DSM's are gay.

uhhh where are you at price wise 150fc? I mean honestly i dont want to spend over 2500. I already have the 5 lug front end. If drifter can get me the number to that guy then i can get everything i need for like 2000 or so probably, shipped.

I've spent more than $7000 on my $150 car so far, not including tow fees

The problem is this: You'll be getting parts for your swap and you'll think, "Well, I'm going to upgrade [part] eventually anyway, so I'll just do it now." And then you realize, "Oh, but if I upgrade [part] I'll need to upgrade [other part] to go along with it."

Then you'll realize you want five lug brakes, and then you'll have to buy wheels, and then you'll want to put new pads and rotors, and then you'll want to get new suspension so you don't **** up your new tires because the alignment is shot.

It's all downhill from the time you say "Go", heh. I didn't listen to everybody who told me to get a TII first, and while it has been a ton of fun and I have learned a hell of a lot, it wasn't cheap.

However I will say I think i'm still doing better moneywise now as opposed to buying a TII. I just think it would be exceedingly difficult to pull of a $2500 TII swap and be happy with it.

Victor

Well said im 5.2k into mine. and not done :-( 6hundred towrd car and 850 towrd rims. have a GLU so allready had suspention. I have come up with the equashion for swaping motors.

Do all the reserch for atleast 3 weeks considering you are well briefed on the motors and car allready. Finde all the parts need and get the cost shiped. we will call this equashion F for FINACIAL. Now take the factor of oops money call this DISASTER money or D factor.

So now the equshion is this.
((D = F) F x D) = FD "substatute FD with your total"
So the outcome of FD "Finacial Disaster" is how much you will need
