Price of OMP!!!!!????

Ok I don't know if I am in need of an OMP but I might just get one for the hell of it. I found one on "thepartstrader.com" and the guy claims they go for 8-900 dollars and than I had someone from the forum say they were around 1-200 dollars. So in turn how the hell much do these things cost?

Have you thought about removing the OMP, install a block off plate, and running premix?

Thanks everyone. I have a 89 GXL so I get an electric one. Anyway thanks for the used help. Ummm does anyone have a good pic of where they are located? I know the vacinity but I don't know exactly where. And how hard of a job is it to remove and replace one. No I will not be running premix anytime soon, I don't think the drawbacks are all worth it. I am probably decreasing my engine's already short life by running it with a bad one(maybe). I am still confused why the car runs rich. There is no bubbles in overflow and no damn mystery liquid in the oil. I am completely baffled, would bad spark wires make her smoke? Malfunctioning fuel pump? Any help is needed

yo

Are OMP's pretty dependable? Like, do you have to worry about thme breakin ever? I have a Mazda rebuild, but i dont know whats up with the metering pump, they supposedly replace them when the motor is rebuilt. And is the mechanical one more reliable than the electric? I have to drive my car to Flordia, thats 1500 miles from me, and I think I might run premix the whole time to be safe, what should I use? Ive heard marvel mystery oil, and how much should be put in to a full tank?

hmmmmm...

ok mechanical ones are way better than electric ones

if your oil meter pump goes bad and you have an electric one the car will act like its hesitating once you try to go hard on rpms .

if you have an electric and it goes bad might as well go by a new computer for the car.

so far ive had 2 cars do this to me and belive me DONT RUN the car if its bad or your motor will go caput

my 2 cents

If you suspect the OMP might be toast then just start running premix for insurance. The fact of the matter is that even if your OMP is working fine there is no harm in running premix to supplement the oil from the OMP.

Yea ammount please, Crossbar told me and I will probably get back to him and than tell you ItsNiceToBurnRice but until than we are just going to have to wait. Why should I change my comp if my OMP goes bad? I am just taking down diagnostics and stuff because my car is running really funny

well, the MMO bottle says to use 4 ounces for every ten gallons of fuel. I've been running it a little while for extra insurance. Usually what I do is dump in 4 ounces, put my gas in on top of it, and then see how much past 10 gallons i went, and then add the appropriate additional amount after. I figure it gets better mixed if you dump it in and then the gas on top of it. You might benefit from running more than 4oz per gallon if you kill the OMP. Speaking of such things, I had an idea. How much trouble would it be to hook a sending unit and meter to the omp? that way you'd see your omp pressure and know immediately if it failed...

If you still have the omp, the premix ratio is something like 400:1... if you DON'T, it's about 100:1.. 1 oz per gallon is close enough to 100:1.. And yeah, try to put it in before the gasoline.

The haynes manual, and probably the FSM, both tell you how to test the OMP to see if it's working.
