Price Estimate please!

I'm interested in this guys 87 Turbo

it has 145km original and a 1 month old factory turbo, but the motor was blown in november. It has a full HKS exhaust and upgraded shocks and springs. Body wise is good original paint and a small crack on the front lip. Otherwise its stock.

What would be a good price to pick this up at.

Right now his looking for 2000 CDN
any opinions ? Thanks

Cut that in half...
DEAD ENGINES should not command over $500US...
You're looking at a $2,000US job to "fix" that dead engine - keep that in mind.

Yes, but the new turbo adds value assuming that it didn't get destroyed when the engine blew. I would value the car closer to $800 USD if the turbo is proven to be in like-new shape when removed from the block. However, it's difficult to determine the value of the car without knowing the condition of the brakes, wheel bearings, driveshaft, etc., and the extent of the damage to the engine.

FYI RETed's $2,000 USD quote to fix the engine assumes minimal damage. You could very well be looking at twice that amount.

Apparently the engine still turns and starts, but runs like garbage.

Probably very low compression on 1 rotor and no compression on the other.

The chasis has 145kms on it very decent, new suspension, rebuilt transmission, new clutch.

Turbo was 1 month old from factory cost the guy $1800 CDN.

Theres some more details might change the value a bit ? the avg price, and what would be a 'good' price.

Yea i was quoted $3500-4000 CDN to rebuild the turbo and motor.

Curious, how much does a NA blown motor and good body go for nowadays? the avg price

Well, you could go to kbb.com, and 'customize' the condition of the car. Under motor, put 'non running'

That stuff is so wrong, lol.

Need a opinion from a buyers point of view.

Were doing a trade + cash, so his trading his 87 Tii(blown motor, HKS exhaust, suspension upgrds. good interior exterior) + 2000 CDN for my mint GXL (145km,new paint, mint interior, exhaust, intake,no problems w/ tranny/motor)

Fair ish deal ?

About how much USD is 2000 CDN? I would guess that the car plus 1500 usd is a good deal.

Who's getting the $2000CDN?
If you're paying the cash, you're getting screwed.
YOUR car is worth $2000*US*.
I would walk away from this non-running car unless you get a better deal.
He should be paying YOU money in this swap, dude.
If you go ahead with this deal, please don't swamp us with a lot of whining and questions on getting the engine rebuild...PLEASE.
You seem hard-set on getting the Turbo II.

RETed- the post said the guy with the blown turbo is giving him (xxyboi) 2000 Cdn + car w/ blown motor for his mint GXL. Not the other way round.

So broke azz turbo + 2000 Cnd = mint GXL. I believe that was the way it breaks down.

KBB doesn't work for broken cars, although it is pretty accurate for running 2Gen RX-7's.

The broken TII + $2,000 CAD ($1,635 USD) is probably a pretty good deal for your car. That would mean that you are paying roughly $400 USD for the broken TII, which isn't too bad of a deal.

BTW, "mint" means exactly as produced by the factory, aka "uncirculated". It is absolutely impossible for your interior to be in mint condition.

offer him 1000 if he says no tell him that those are going for arround 5500 and you are gonna have to spend 3-4k on new engine (worse case). so that brings it right up there. if he doesn't accept I would not spend more than 1500 on that car.
Good Luck
