wheel and tire packages

I am gonna get some aftermarket wheels for my 87 t2 and am having trouble deciding on sizes. I have decided to go with 5zigen Fnor1-c with Kuhmo Ecsta 711's. I can either get 17x7's with 235's all around or staggered with 17x8 on 225's in the front and 17x9 on 245's in the rear. The offset is +35 for all around. Which do u guys think is the wiser decision? Is there a visual difference between the two setups even with the same offset? If i go staggered its not gonna be possible to rotate the tires, somethin i should think about. Thanks for the help

The 17x7 all around are a good choice. If I could do it over again I'd do 17x7 on the front with 17x18.5 with a nice lip in the rear.

I would go 17x8 front and 17x9 rear, with a 35mm offset all around. Thats about what Im running, and it fits very well. Im running 235/40 up front and 255/40 out back, but the fronts are close, so you may want to go 225 just to be safe. Also, Id suggest looking into better tires. The 711s suck, the 712s are marginally better, but still arent the greatest.

i have 711's and so far they work great in dry and wet driving conditions. nothing wrong with the these tires unless you use you rx7 as a racecar 24/7 and constantly driving over 100 mph!!!!!!!!

Do the 225's and 245's 35 offset, They fit really well (flush with the fender. I am lowered 1.5"'s all the way around also. Looks mean.

Drive on a good set of tires, maybe Toyo T1S, or even the Kuhmo MX, then drive on the 711s, youll see what I mean. Are they fine as a daily driver tire..yes. Are they really performance orented, no.

And the 711's are an H speed rating! Only 130mph max!, thats a downgrade from stock V rating of 149mph!

The 712's are being replaced by the "S_ _", I cant remember the other 2 letters. These replacements will offer better wet traction and a queiter ride.

I hear also that the 711's are absolute garbage when it comes to high performance tires. Sure they'll keep the car off the ground, but they aren't good. The Falken Zeix 512's or the FK-451's are much better and aren't too expensive. Get the best tires you can possibly afford. They're the only thing connecting the car to the road! You won't regret buying good tires, they can be the difference between having a car that handles like **** and one that you'll fall in love with again.
