Pressure Drop @ Hihg Rpms
Pressure Drop @ Hihg Rpms
"HELP IS NEEDED"
CAR=91T2 67K mi.
What is the drop in pressure when one goes from using a top mount i/c to a a greddy 3 row front mount i/c?
Upgrades r as follow: upgraded stock turbo larger wheel with ported exhaust port, hks power flo,profecB,under drive pullys,no cat or air pump,down pipe with greddy power extreme,sx fuel reg,720 secondaries,apex afc,k&n billet fuel filter relocated to engin bay,super chip upgrade. RWHP with the above upgrade & the stock i/c was 261.7 @ 12 psi @ 86 degrees F. I installed a greddy 3 row front mount i/c & the frustration began for me & the technician. @ 12psi the result was dissapointed as the rpm approaches 5.5k rpm the boost dropped between 5 & 7 psi & held. The best dyno result was 225 rwhp @ temperatures of 105.5 degrees in the dyno room. Leaks were cheked but none waqs found. Is it possible that the size & length of the i/c pipes r a direct result of such extreme drop in psi?
All logical explainations will b greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Peace

I can’t explain it, but a massive pressure drop and a temp increase means something is very wrong somewhere. You should get some pressure drop but nowhere near that much. It’s the temp increase that scares me. This may not be related to the new IC directly. Leave it all in place and reinstall the stock IC and piping to see what happens.
