premix on a dd

I know a lot of people have posted on premixing over the MOP, but I just want to see how many daily drivers use premix. I have an 88 na, and the damn MOP leaks like crazy.

its always a good idea to premix. if your MOP is leaking then yes you need to premix or replace it. im premixing my 88TII with the mop blocked off and its my DD untill i fully break the engine in.

search and you will find tons of info on this subject

Get a new OMP, or used one. Hell, it might just be a gasket that you need.

Premixing is cool for about a week, then it starts to get old, and Heaven forbid you should ever forget

If you don't own an s5 then I for one see no need to pre-mix. Mechanical OMPs kickass, the electric s5's suck a big left one (no political pun intended!) If your OMP has been romoved then, well duh, let's shuttup the obvious monsters before they start on a overargued thread! It could just be a gasket like sharingan said, could be the pump itself. IT IS A GOOD IDEA to premix regardless just for some extra lubrication, but it is not necessary according to factory spec. I once ate a clown for breakfast, and I think it gave me heartburn. If it really did or not is completely speculative and up for argument, but regardless, It tasted like popcorn.

Can we lock this thread? Out of ALL the premix threads, how many of those answers do you think come from daily drivers? Many!

Premix SUCKS. If you omp works, leave it, if the OMP SYSTEM is in need of maintenance, then get new parts for it and don't worry.

Well, I know where it's leaking from...and it can't really be fixed. I did the rebuild exactly as shown on one of the threads here, and it still leaks badly. New MOP's aren't cheap, and I've bought 2 used ones only to discover they leak even worse.

Where is it leaking from? There is a rebuild kit from pineapple racing that uses the right parts. I doubt it will leak after getting the kit.

If the pump itself is leaking, just rebuild it. Don't waste time or money going to a vendor for the parts. Just go to your local hydraulic shop and avoid paying the premium.

You need two 11/16 x 1/16 o-rings, and two 1/4 x 1/16 o-rings, both viton.

You'll also want to replace the o-ring that seals the pump to the front cover. I don't know the size off hand, but you can always get it from Mazda.

If the lines are leaking, replace or rebuild them. Use new crush washers.

In addition, premix has been covered perhaps 10,000 times in the last two months. A search for "premix" would turn up a lot of threads covering all this in great detail.

Sigh....Seriously, there is a HUGE topic in the Archives that covers premix and all related concerns. If you search for premix, there is a tonne of information available. Common acronyms like Metering Ooil Pump are also covered in the FAQ.

MOP (metering oil pump) and OMP (oil metering pump) are the same thing just worded different.

Works fine one mine. MOP was blocked off when I got the motor. Smells like a chainsaw though.
