premix

So im rebuilding my motor and in the process i decided to block off my omp and run premix, ive been searching and cant seem to find a straight answer. What is best to run for premix, 2 stroke oil, or the same oil your running in your engine. Has anoyone tried both and know what produces the best results?

Run a high quality 2 stroke oil. It is made to mix with gas. You want to run from 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce per gallon, depending on how hard you drive it. In my E production racecar I run 1 ounce per gallon as per my engine builder's reccomendation.

oh gawd... a premix question.
But i went through this myself recently and decided the "best" was to leave my stock oil injection system operational (especially since it's an s5, getting rid of it would mean an rtek chip) and premix good 2-stroke oil at .5oz/gal.

search some, you'll find rabid opinions on all sides of this fence. but the idea of oil in the gas, being atomized at high pressure with each injector pulse, sounds good to me

cheers

Also make sure you use a 2 stroke oil that has a tcw-3 rating. I believe this means it will stay suspended in gas.

I have 12oz coke bottles full of TCW-3 2 stroke in my spare tire well that I throw in at every fill up, so that's roughly 2/3 oz/gal.

don't use normal oil, it won't mix with your gas as well.

I use lucas fuel cleaner at the same ratio in both my gal and tII. burns cleaner than the oils. doesn't leave a residue on the bumper.

Just search for premix. It's the 2nd most asked question (after "can I turbo my NA?").

For some reason it's not in the FAQ. I'll be adding it shortly.

Also there are a few topics in the Archives.

I found this thread very useful when I was searching for premix info a while ago... I still have it saved in my favorites: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/premix-rex-im-just-trying-understand-225649/

Hopefully that will answer all of your questions like it did mine. It's kind of long, but it's a great read. Lot's of good information and opinions in there (I enjoy reading both).

The whole purpose of blocking off your OMP is so you can run oil through your system that burns cleaner. I think it would be irnoic to block off your OMP only to run regular 4-cycle engine oil. Use 2 cycle, everything esle these guys have been telling you is right. Although I would say 2-3 oz per gal is a bit overkill unless you redlining every shift in some type of beast. I'm doing the same thing. Search for a post done by PATMAN, he writes up an excellent conversion of his OMP to 2-stroke.

LOL, I said 2/3 oz/gal as in .66666 oz/gal not 2-3

I use 12 oz. per tank and have the big 18.5 gal S5 tank.
