Power Window Help...
Car: 89 Vert, power windows...
Yesterday I was rolling my window up and heard a loud snap. The window continued to roll up but very slowly and made a grinding noise. I left it up (knowing that it was going to get stuck if I messed with it)
Today I pulled the door apart and found what I think to be the problem. The track that the metal wire runs along snapped. So the two wires(one that rolls it up and one the rolls it down are setting on each other) here are some pictures to help understand the problem.
Does anybody know if and where I can get this plastic seperater part or do I have to find a whole new/used window assy?

Here is how to fix this: You need to replace the glide track with a pulley. I did this on my passenger door on my 90 vert. I pulled a manual operator from a base S4. They are laid out similar to a vert. The window crank operates a cable and pulls up and over the center track like the vert. While the parts are not interchangeable, the top of the manual operator has a pulley, not the stupid nylon glide as in our verts.
I drilled the rivet out of the center of the pulley on the manual operator. I then bolted on to the vert track, replacing the glide. This worked out perfectly and I have had no trouble for nearly 4 years.
You could probably find a pulley with a bronze bushing in the 1"-1.5" size range and do the same thing. I don't think you necessarily must get it out of a manual window mechanism.
I used to have a picture of the manual operator and have posted it on the forum before. I cannot find it on my computer.

I found it, and it only cost 4.00 at ACE hardware. I found it in the drawer hardware near the pulls(handles) for drawers. It has a sealed bearing so I think it will work. I will keep you guys updated...

THANK YOU for making this thread. I have had the same problem with my vert. My solution? Un hook the cables from the window and manually lift and push down my window. Has been working so far :P But I will do this asap. Just have to figure out how to take everything out easily.

I just upbolted everything and took the window first. Then the whole assy. I haven't installed this new fix yet but I pulled the door apart this past weekend to figure out the problem. My plan is the look at where the old broken glide was before it was broken and drill a whole in the rail. Then put a bolt through the middle whole of my new part and put a crush nut(or what ever its called) on the back side going through the fresh drilled whole.
Thanks again jackhild59 for the helpful info.
